Here is someone who is determined to make it easy for us to travel abroad without the hassles of exchanging currency through e-commerce venture, Quick Forex!
There is a Moorish proverb saying
“He who does not travel does not know the value of men.”
Who doesn’t enjoy travelling? Meeting new people and visiting new places and getting to know new cultures. Travelling abroad, be it for pleasure or business is something that most of us enjoy. You not only have fun taking part in the culture and tradition of the place you visit but you also learn to be one of them. But all that fun in travelling abroad is hampered by the need to have sufficient foreign currency. Standing in long queues on the eve of your travel to exchange your currency is tedious. Very often, the anticipation and eagerness to spend the last few hours of overseas travel in planning and packing is lost in getting the currency notes exchanged.
This is where Quick Forex steps in. Understanding the needs of foreign travellers, Yash Sharma has taken the initiative to open this One-stop solution of exchanging currency online. In fact, this is India’s first e-commerce initiative that deals with retail foreign exchange. Not just currency notes, they also offer prepaid travel cards, traveler’s cheques, demand drafts and what not. They also facilitate wire transfers.
Yash Sharma is an entrepreneur who is a visionary as well. He has been able to predict the needs of the tens of thousands of people who travel abroad every day for their business needs, pleasure etc. His farsighted vision and shrewd business sense has seen him scale great heights in this venture.
Meet Yash Sharma, the co-founder of Quick Forex and learn how he was able to develop his idea into a successful business that caters to the needs of lakhs of overseas travellers now.

5. Share the idea or story behind the venture. How did it come to an existence?
Being a frequent traveler, the long queues for visas and exchange were very troublesome and tiring, I always thought of short cuts and quick responses for each task coming my way, and then the hype of digital platforms was gaining among people. I found a solution to it and spoke to my father about how we can gain out of the loops. So as a mentor, he supported me all the way.
6. How did you identify your co-founder?
I’ve been handling things on my own, since inception.
7. What expansion plans are you looking at for the next 2 years, next 5 years?
We’re expanding towards the metro cities by this year end; all plans are sorted for that matter. Hopefully our global branches will come up soon.
8. Where do you want to see yourself in the next 5 years?
Well, dealing with major global banks for further hold over the Forex Market.
9. Have you raised any funding? Or have any plans for the funding?
We do keep getting such offers but honestly we don’t have plans or requirements of any funding.
10. What were the problems you faced during the starting days and how did you resolve them?
The only challenge I faced was making people believe in my venture and have faith in me for this industry is too risky. The meetings with major National Bank Officials and getting the certifications and sorted was main.
11. Are you married, single or are you in a relationship?
12. What are your hobbies? What do you do in your non-work time?
I’m obsessed with cricket, and have a group of friends having a similar obsession. I love catching up with them for a game or two whenever I have time. I love to be updated when it comes to technology and money market. I keep reading and doing research in the same. And of course I love travelling and meeting new people. I try and make travel plans with friends or family & at times solo ones too; they’re too refreshing.
13. What’s your favorite food & holiday destination?
I love Dal Bukhara and can have it anytime of the day, and our Indian Cuisine is vast enough to satisfy our taste buds. When it comes to Holidays I prefer going to London whatsoever it maybe. I feel connected there, no reason behind it but it’s the best place to be in.
14. Whom do you consider your idol or biggest motivator?
My father! Whatever I am, it’s cause of him; his support matters a lot to me. His stature is such that one cannot help but get impressed.
15. What do you feel is the major difference between entrepreneurs and those who work for someone else?
Let’s think of it like this. The amount of efforts I’d put into my own work tends to be far more than I’d do in my boss’s work. That’s what I think it is, I’ll be more dedicated to my venture than investing my time and efforts in the upbringing of some other person’s business.
16. If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?
I’d consider being a cricketer; it’s something I’m too good at. I’ve been involved in sports in school and college as well, I’d definitely be a famous cricketer had I taken formal training.
17. How has being an entrepreneur affected your family & Social life?
I don’t think I’ve had any major changes; it’s just that I’ve become a bit more careful in decision making. And I think it’s important, there comes a time in your life when you must become responsible for yourself.
18. Anything, you would like to say to our readers or upcoming entrepreneurs?
Keep a firm ground to what you believe in, no matter what people say or do.
19. Tell us something about your education & family background.
I did my schooling from a boarding school in Dehradun, Kasiga. It was that time when I explored myself and did whatever I liked. I loved the exposure I got at Kasiga; it taught me how to tackle people and I had friends from different countries. By the end of Class 10, I could speak Thai and Nepali. I like to learn new languages. After my 10th I changed my school to G.D Goenka World School, Gurgaon. I completed my IB.
