1.What is the Name of Your Venture? Any specific reason for this name?
The name of my venture is Dealsshutter. The reason for this name is basically that Deals means Offers which we provide to our customers and Shutter means a screen. So, this sums it up as A screen which provides offers.
2.Who is your target Audience/clients?
Our audience is customers like who love food, watch movies or shop a lot, etc. Also some B2B companies which are existing ones like e-commerce companies or any new companies like for food, etc which have started in any area of the world.
3.Where is your venture based (city, state, country) & What are your geographical target areas?
Dealsshutter is based in Amritsar (Punjab-India). Amritsar is my home town so I preferred giving jobs to people in my own area so that they can get jobs nearby and they don’t have to migrate to various cities just in the search of job and waste their hard earned money. My geographical target areas are all around the world. We don’t limit ourselves only to India as our USA model is already in process of starting.
4.What problems does your venture resolve? What are your products or services?
Dealsshutter resolves the problem as people have to search for different kinds of discounts and coupons for different websites like some of Makemy trip, bookmyshow, foodpanda, etc from various platforms. But Dealsshutter brings them all together at one place in one website portal i.e. www.dealsshutter.com. We don’t want them to miss it like deals around the festivities example: Diwali deals, etc. Some online shopping platforms like Amazon, Flipkart offer Blockbuster deals only on some days, we want people to take full advantage of the same.
Our services include mainly the coupon codes and promo codes.
5.Share the idea or story behind the venture. How did it came to an existence? What motivated you to start your own venture?
When in college time, friends used to discuss about offers and deals. When we offered them some deals they didn’t know about it most of the times. We thought of providing deals to people on a small scale without proper platform and it started working. That’s how we thought of starting our own venture for the same and that too along with studies. We have faced many problems to make it come into existence. We had to buy property and make new office for people to have a proper place and working environment to work. We had to hire new people as it was a big project and doing that in a small city is a laborious task, when most of the people want to work with established companies which pay high salaries. There are investment problems in small cities as people like to invest in metropolitan cities. We have trained our own team and motivated them.
We started with our own websites and working for clients when we were studying, we had knowledge of web designing and programming skills, there were less jobs in the market which greatly motivated us to start this venture. When we thought of working with other business partners we had trust issues.
6.Who are your biggest competitors and how do you differentiate yourself from them?
The biggest competitors of Dealsshutter are companies which have good funding like Grabon, Coupondunia, Cashkaro, etc.
Our Unique Selling Propositions are that we first try the deals which come up for our website by ourselves and then post them for customers. We don’t want to loose our customers, we have gained them on the basis on their trust on us.
Also that all our competitors only focus on India as an area, we have expanded to United States also. Where most of the startups quit seeing such a competition in the market we want to stay on and fight for the first place.
7.How did you identify your co-founder? Tell us something about your co-founder/s.
I see certain skills in people. The person should be passionate enough to work hard. He/She should be ready to work without any monetary benefits.
He/She should have non-matching skill sets in comparison to me. He/She must have good qualities of working together.
8.How did you hire your first team members? What skills do you want in your employees/team?
We hired our team members through on-campus drives. They should be good team players. He/She should be creative and perfect according to his/her skills.
9.What expansion plans are you looking for the next 2 years, next 5 years?
We want to make our website number One in our domain both in India and USA. Freshers will be getting new opportunities to work-on.
10.Where do you want to see yourself in next 10 years?
I want to see my website working great in India as well as in USA. I want it to become the most trusted website for offers and coupons. We also want to rise in advertisements and web development.
11.What are your goals over the next 1, 3, 6 and 12 months?
We want to raise more funding for our project. Also we want to hire more passionate and hardworking people. We want to expand our model overseas to make it the best and most used by the customers.
12.Have you raised any funding? Or have any plans for the funding?
No, Not till date. All the investments have been made by me and the co-founders. We have plans but after the 6 months when we reach the break-even point.
13.What were the problems you faced during the starting days and how did you resolve them?
We had to skip classes because of which we had suffered a lot due to shortage of lectures, which resulted to missing the exams. We had shortage of skilled members because as I mentioned earlier that nobody wanted to work in a small organization and less salary. Also we had no help in investments.
14.What was the most challenging part of your journey till now? How did you overcome those challenges?
The most challenging part was to invest in this business. But we all have worked hard and by developing the websites, etc. We have saved money and made our offices in the city.
15.Are you married, single or in a relationship?
I am single, My venture keeps me very busy. I work day and night for it.
16.What are your hobbies? What do you do in your non-work time?
I like playing Chess and designing strategies because I am busy in my own monotonous routine.
17.Whats your favorite food & holiday destination?
I love Amritsari food like Kulcha chana and I like visiting Hill stations like Dharamshala and Mcleodganj.
18.Whom do you consider your idol or biggest motivator?
Myself- 5 years from now.
19..What do you feel is the major difference between entrepreneurs and those who work for someone else?
I feel passion is lacking in people when they work for someone else as they don’t really care for the results. As they don’t have to face the losses.
Also the risk-taking capacity is the main factor that Entrepreneurs have. The people who work for someone else don’t have anything at stake.
20.If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?
I feel I have started my own project quite late like after my graduation. If I had a chance to start it over again I would start it much earlier.
21.How has being an entrepreneur affected your family & Social life?
It doesn’t really affect because when I know I have to spend time with family, I keep aside my work. I spend my Sunday with friends and family. I also choose my social life wisely now. I see who is more important and who is not.

I would like to say just one thing. Stay focused. Do one thing with full effort and for it don’t leave any stone unturned when you have decided what to do.

I have done my Bachelors in Computer Applications. I live in a joint family, My father is a shopkeeper and My mother is a home-maker.

As I have told you earlier, Our website Dealsshutter provides with offers and discounts to people. Our USP is that we try our offers first and then post them for our customers. Also in comparison to all our indian competitors we are the only one to expand the same to USA.
25.What do you think is the biggest threat to the success of small businesses & Start-ups today?
The biggest threat is that they start the business and when they come in the market and they see they have big competitors. They fear and step back in most of the cases. Also nobody trusts the startups to raise funding to them especially when they are in small cities like us.
