With this infrastructure facility in place, Amazon has now increased its storage capacity by 1.5 times since last year in Haryana. The company now has more than 5 million cubic feet of storage space in the state. This centre is one of the five announced for 2018. Amazon India will exit 2018 with more than 50 fulfilment centres in 13 states across the country, with a combined storage space of close to 20 million cubic feet, said a statement from the company.

Akhil Saxena, Vice President, Customer Fulfilment, Amazon India, said, “In line with our vision to transform the way India buys and sells, we have been consistently investing in our infrastructure and delivery network, so we can increase our speed of delivery and provide a superior experience to both – customers and sellers.”

Devender Singh, Addl. Chief Secretary, Industries and Commerce Dept, Government of Haryana, said, “Amazon India’s further investment in Haryana with the launch of their largest fulfilment centre signifies the growing interest of large global enterprises in the state. The centre will enable small and medium businesses selling locally-created products such as apparel, handlooms and handicraft to service customers seamlessly across the country. It will also provide support to the local economy by enabling the growth of ancillary businesses such as packaging, transportation, logistics, and hospitality across the state. This fulfilment centre will create direct and indirect opportunities for thousands of people in the region.”

When using Fulfilment By Amazon (FBA), sellers send their products to Amazon’s FCs and once an order is placed, Amazon picks, packs and ships the order to the customer, provides customer service and manages returns on behalf of the sellers, added the statement from the company.
