Amazon’s new Fire TV Stick provides 4K streaming for $50

If you think Amazon is done launching products after their massive event last month, you’re wrong. The company announced a new Fire TV Stick 4K today priced at just $49.99. Additionally, the device also supports HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos standards for the superior viewing experience.
“The team invented an entirely new antenna technology and combined that with a powerful 802.11ac Wi-Fi chip that optimizes for the best possible 4K UHD streaming experience, even in congested network environments,” said Marc Whitten, Vice President of Amazon Fire TV.
The new Fire TV Stick will also be able to pair up with an Amazon Echo device to allow far-field recognition (finally!). Amazon has added in-app voice control support for more services like HBO Now, A&E, AMC, and Sony Crackle, which allows you to use Alexa to play, rewind, fast forward, and navigate through content
Moreover, Amazon is also launching an upgraded Alexa voice remote with dedicated volume and mute buttons. It also allows you to switch on your compatible TV and AV equipment, change inputs, or tune to a channel on your cable box.
The Fire TV Stick 4K is available for $49.99 and the new Alexa remote is available for $29.99  as a stand-alone remote on Amazon for pre-order. The devices will start shipping on October 31 in the United States and Canada. They will ship in the United Kingdom, Germany, and India on November 14. The devices are also available for pre-order in Japan and will ship before the end of this year.
It’s great that Amazon has finally launched a 4K stick to compete with the likes of Apple TV. The Echo pairing functionality is probably the most important feature as it will complete the entertainment package.
