Binny Bansal withdrew police case against woman accuser but reserved rights to reopen

Post Binny Bansal departure over sexual harassment allegation, the Walmart-controlled Flipkart is going through a major reshuffle at top level as well as merger and shrinking Myntra- Jabong team.
Ten days after the upheaval, another secret thread has come out of the story as Binny  reportedly approached Bengaluru police to file a case against the woman who accused him in the case.
The case was filed at Koramangala Police Station a few days after his exit as a Group CEO and Chairman of Flipkart.
Binny, However, will not continue the case against the woman who made him resign from the company he founded.
According to anonymous sources quoted by ET, the woman was questioned by Bengaluru police who later apologised for making such serious allegation against Binny.
The apology might be the reason behind the withdrawal from the case say the sources. Interestingly, Binny has reserved the rights to reopen the case if needed in future.
The development comes after Walmart investigated the case following an email received from the accuser. The Bentonville-based company founded him guilty over serious personal misconduct but did not reveal the nature of the case.
Further, the reports of sexual misconduct cropped up and Binny’s relationship with the Flipkart’s past employee came in light. After their break up, the woman started to demand money from Binny.
During the Walmart-Flipkart deal, the woman increased her demand and then Binny chose not to respond to her. Following his avoidance, she emailed the entire story to Walmart CEO Doug McMillon. Acting on the complaint, the company had hired international law firm Gibson Dunn to conduct an independent inquiry into the matter.
Separately, a report published in Founding Fuel alleged that Binny had hired a private security firm to handle the case. It also highlighted that the security firm personnel had physically assault the women but she managed to escape.
Binny then hired another security firm to deal the matter with monetary compensation but it could not get materialised.
