Reliance Jio has surprised their loyal users with a gift: 2 GB extra data, with a validity of 4 days. We will soon tell you how can this be checked right in your mobile phone.
Meanwhile, as per incoming reports pertaining to RMS or Revenue Market Share, it has been revealed that Jio is losing out to Airtel, Vodafone in metros.
What is the reason?
2 GB/Extra For Jio Users
In July this year, and then again in September, Jio surprised their loyal users with a gift of 2GB/ day additional data over and above their base plan.
At that time, Jio had said that this offer will only run till September.
Now, in the month of November, users are again receiving this gift of 2 GB per day additional data, with the same 4 days validity.
There has been no official announcement from Jio on this, but it seems that this is a random surprise offer for all users.
Check If You Have 2 GB/Day Extra Data?
Some reports are indicating that this offer is for all users, while some reports claim that only few ‘selected’ users will be grated this extra 2 GB data.
None the less, this extra 2GB will be filed under ‘Jio Celebrations Pack’.
This is how you can check whether this surprise data offer is available for you or not:
- Open MyJio app
- Navigate to My Plans section
- If you are able to see ‘Reliance Jio Celebrations Pack’, then you have hit the jackpot.
- The expiry date will be mentioned in the details, which is 4 days for all users.
- Hence, you can get an additional 8 GB over and above your plan.
Now, for some users who had already received this pack last month, they will have a total of 24 GB: 16 GB from last two months, and 8 GB this month.
Jio had made it clear that the ‘selected users’ will get a total of 8 GB per month.

Jio Is Losing Out To Airtel/Vodafone In Metros?
As per a report by ICICI Securities, it has been revealed that while Jio is becoming stronger in rural areas, it is losing out to Airtel and Vodafone.
The report analyses Revenue Market Share or RMS of Jio, Airtel, Vodafone-Idea vis-a-vis rural and urban areas.
Overall, Jio has shown strong positive movement in RMS, while Vodafone has shown negative movement. Airtel’s RMS has remained more or less flat.
As per the report, Airtel has made a strong improvement in revenues generating from urban locations in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, Maharashtra and Gujarat. This has resulted in 17.6% and 5% on-quarter growth in adjusted gross revenue (AGR) for Airtel and Vodafone respectively.
At the same time, Jio has experienced RMS loss in Delhi (113 basis points) and Kolkata (752 basis points)
Brokerage firm UBM has backed this report, as it said that RMS of Jio in these urban locations has dropped to 24.9% in the September quarter from 26.3% in the April-June period.
At the same time, RMS of Jio has increased substantially in rural areas, which means that overall, Jio has maintained strong growth in RMS of 375 bps on-quarter to over 26% at the end of September.
It would be interesting to observe how Jio maintains the growth in urban locations now.
