Jharkhand will be the second state to get a bike ambulance from the CRPF for Naxal-hit regions.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) section of the Jharkhand recently launched the bike ambulance initiative. This ingeniously designed ambulance will provide healthcare facilities in the Latehar district of Jharkhand.

The launch took place at Matlong Campo of 133 Battalion of the CRPF on Thursday.

The bike ambulance will be integrated with a foldable canopy with a backrest, hand rest, and seat extension for patients. Further, a wheel guard will be present on both sides with a footrest with a grip.

Keeping patients’ convenience as top priority, a pair of seats have been integrated into the ambulance. For onboard assistance, a first aid box, a beacon light and a hooter will also be available, reports ANI.

This will be a boon for the residents of the district, which witnesses intense Naxal activities that disrupt local lives, and any form of infrastructural development.

The villages in the district face severe unrest as it shares a boundary with Dantewada in Chhattisgarh, worst-hit by Maoist violence, reports Outlook India.

The bike ambulance initiative took off in Bijapur district of Karnataka in 2016. Here, the bike ambulance team consists of a doctor, a paramedic and an assistant accompanied by armed security personnel who cover 70 villages in the district.
