India will support Sri Lanka’s democracy and stability.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Thursday that India will continue to support democracy, stability, and economic recovery in the neighboring country.

Mr. Stalin’s earlier statement that “it was the right time to take back Katchatheevu [a Sri Lankan island decades ago], the Prime Minister stated that many Indian organizations and individuals have sent assistance to their brothers and sisters in Sri Lanka, including the Tamils in the northern and eastern parts of the country. To counter the perception that the Centre had not done enough to give the Tamil language its due, the Prime Minister devoted a significant portion of his speech to praising the Dravidian language.

“The Tamil language is eternal and Tamil culture is universal.” He said that from Chennai to Canada, from Madurai to Malaysia, from Namakkal to New York, from Salem in South Africa, the occasions of Pongal and Puthandu are celebrated with great zeal, recalling how Union Minister of State L. Murugan, who was on stage, had recently walked the red carpet in Cannes in traditional Tamil clothes, making Tamils everywhere proud.

Mr. Modi said that the Indian government is fully committed to spreading the Tamil language and culture and recalled that the new campus of the Central Institute of Classical Tamil, which opened in Chennai in January, was fully funded by the Union government. He recently announced the establishment of a “Subramanian Bharati Chair” in Tamil Studies at the Hindu University of Benares.

“The national education policy attaches great importance to the promotion of Indian languages.” Technical and medical courses can be completed in local languages thanks to the National Education Policy. “The youths of Tamil Nadu will benefit from this,” Modi said.

Mr. Modi stated that in every field, someone from Tamil Nadu was always excelling, recalling how the Indian Deaflympics contingent recently won six of the 16 medals.

 

In pursuit of the projects he announced, Mr. Modi stated that the Indian government is fully committed to constructing high-quality, long-lasting infrastructure.

His administration has also gone beyond what was previously referred to as infrastructure, he said, adding that until recently, infrastructure referred to roads, power, and water. “We are currently working on expanding India’s pipeline network. “I-ways are being worked on,” he said.

Mr. Modi recalled his Red Fort speech, in which he spoke about a National Infrastructure Pipeline, and said: “This is a project worth more than 100 lakh crore. “Steps are being taken to make this vision a reality. R.N. Ravi, the Governor of Tamil Nadu, attended the event. Earlier, Mr. Modi was greeted enthusiastically by the State BJP.
