Evacuation Flights To Be Starting From This Week For Indians Stranded Abroad- Corona Cricis

About 14,800 Indians will be brought back through 64 flights from 13 different countries who are stranded abroad due to travel restrictions globally, imposed due to coronavirus epidemic. The Ministry of External Affairs has prepared a plan for the same. The government has announced that special flights will be running for the return of Indian nationals stranded abroad, which will commence in a phased manner from May’7 2020 and this shall start to operate from May 13′ 2020.

On the first day, 10 flights will be running and 2300 Indians would return to the country. On the second day, 2050 Indians from nine countries would return to Chennai, Kochi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Delhi. On the third day, about 2050 Indians from 13 countries will come to Chennai, Kochi, Mumbai, Lucknow and Delhi. On the fourth day, 1850 Indians are planned to be brought back from eight countries like USA, UAE and London.

In this context, a senior official said that these special flights will be operated by Air India and its subsidiary Air India Express. They would bring Indians back to the homeland from 13 countries, United Arab Emirates, UK, USA, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman. The Indian Embassy and Consulate General in the US started making a list of Indians planning to return home last week. This phase is being made through online registration. “This is for the first time in my memory that such an evacuation effort is being carried out by the Indian government for its citizens in the US,” Jaipur Foot USA Chairman Prem Bhandari said as he thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the efforts.
