Finance Ministry Of India Asks States To Ensure The Safety Of Bank Workers.

The Finance Ministry has requested the states to ensure the security of bank officials and take strict action against the culprits after the recent incidents of attacks on bankers in some parts of the country. Letter to the Chief Secretary of the states In this context, sources have said that the Financial Services Department has written in a letter to the Chief Secretary of the states that along with stern action against such elements, the uncontrolled behaviour of anti-social elements against bank workers should be responded to.

Recently there was news of an attack on a bank employee
Last month, a woman bank employee at Canara Bank (erstwhile Syndicate Bank) was attacked by a police constable at the Saroli branch in Surat. After the incident, Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman had assured that the safety of all bankers is important. The Surat attack was followed by some other incidents, including an attack on employees of Bank of India in Maharashtra.

Action will be taken to protect bank employees
The letter, citing recent news, states that these (in the news) are the exposed cases of anti-social elements behaving illegally within bank premises. “You will agree that such incidents need to be responded to consistently,” the letter said. Stringent legal action should be taken against such elements to ensure the safety of bank workers and availability of banking services for the people.
