Lockdown may continue or extend till June or September, business will take time to recover: report

To prevent the spread of coronavirus infection, the central government has imposed a 21-day lockdown across the country from 25 March. Many speculations are being made about the end of the lockdown. Meanwhile, Macquaré Research and the US firm Boston Consulting Group have presented a possible report of a lockdown opening and normalization of the business based on a separate study. At the same time, the Center for Monitoring Indian Economic said that in the first two weeks of the lockdown, 5 crore people have become unemployed.


Business will take more than 3 months to return to normal: Macquare Research
To prevent the spread of coronavirus infection, the central government has imposed a 21-day lockdown across the country from 25 March. A report by Macquare Research states that this lockdown may extend for 1 to 2 months. Two scenarios are introduced in this report. According to the first scenario, if the lockdown lasts for one month, it will take up to 3 months for the business to return to normal. According to the second scenario, if the lockdown lasts for 2 months, it may take more than 6 months for the business to return to normal.

Lockdown may not be removed before September
On the other hand, a study report by the American consultancy firm Boston Consulting Group (BCG) said that the lockdown ban caused by coronavirus in India will not be removed till September second week. This study report, based on a research by John Hopkins of America, has given two possibilities to remove the restrictions. The first possibility is that the lockdown restrictions will be lifted in the fourth week of June, while the second possibility is that the restrictions will be lifted in the second week of September.

  • Peak date of coronavirus cases in related countries.
  • Possible short and long date for the lockdown to end.

50 million people unemployed in first two weeks of lockdown
According to data from the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy’s weekly survey, about 50 million or 50 million people have become unemployed in the first two weeks of lockdown. According to the survey, the unemployment rate in mid-March was 8.4 percent, which arose to 23 percent by April 5. In the survey report, leading statistician Pranab Sen has said that most people have gone back to their homes due to the lockdown. Thus, in the coming months, the unemployment rate can be seen to be much higher than the projected figures.

So far, 4 thousand 877 cases of corona in the country
There are 4 thousand 877 patients of coronavirus infection in the country. On Tuesday, 96 new cases have been reported. Of these 24 reported positive in Rajasthan, 23 in Maharashtra, 19 in Gujarat, 16 in Haryana, 12 in Madhya Pradesh and 1 in Assam. The Union Health Ministry says that the infection has reached between the second and third stages. However, it happened for the first time yesterday in the last 8 days when a decrease was registered in new cases. 489 reports came out positive during the day. On 28 March there was a 141 increase in the number of infected. The next day it decreased and 115 new cases were reported. After this, the number of infected increased every day.
