Made in India LAVA’s latest smartphone! But is it worth it?

Post the tension with China, there is a strong sentiment to adopt India made goods. Lava Mobiles is looking at capturing this sentiment. After launching the Lava Z61 the Indian smartphone maker is now back with Lava Z66.

Lava International is an Indian company that provides mobile phones and tablets. It was founded in 2009 and has sold affordable handsets, smartphones, and tablets ever since. The company also has activities in Africa, in addition to India. The company launched a separate brand called Xolo which launched Android smartphones as well. The most recent smartphone launch from Lava is the Z66. The smartphone was launched on 4th August 2020. The phone comes with a 6.08-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 720 pixels by 1560 pixels at a PPI of 283 pixels per inch.

This Made in India smartphone is currently available at offline stores and will soon be available on Amazon and Flipkart. The Lava Z66 draws power from 3950 mAh battery which as per company claims offers up to 16 hours of talk time. The smartphone runs on Stock Android OS (Android 10). Lava Z66 is equipped with a fingerprint scanner and a face-unlock feature that unlocks the phone in just 0.6 seconds.

Commenting on the launch, Tejinder Singh, Head- Product, Lava International said, Lava Z66 is an exceptional device in the budget segment for all the photography enthusiasts out there. This beautiful device not only lets you click the most stunning pictures but also delivers a power-packed all-round performance. The Lava Z66 comes with dual sim support (4G+4G), Bluetooth V4.2, OTG support, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The phone also has an array of sensors that includes an accelerometer, ambient light, and a proximity sensor.

Lava International Limited is a leading Indian Mobile Handset Company with operations in 20+ countries. In the international markets, the company is growing rapidly and is already among the top players in many of these countries it operates in. Lava has been at the forefront of Govt. of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and plans to get even more aggressive in the times to come. It is to be seen that will this wave help Lava make a stronghold in the Indian market or will it be another lost opportunity.

Lava Z61 Pro:

Lava also released Lava Z61 Pro on 9th July 2020 at Rs. 5,774. The phone comes with a 5.45-inch touchscreen display and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Lava Z61 Pro is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core processor. It comes with 2GB of RAM. The Lava Z61 Pro runs Android and is powered by a 3100mAh battery.

As far as the cameras are concerned, the Lava Z61 Pro on the rear packs an 8-megapixel camera. The rear camera setup has autofocus. It sports a 5-megapixel camera on the front for selfies.

Lava Z61 Pro based on Android and packs 16GB of inbuilt storage (up to 128GB). It was launched in Midnight Blue and Amber Red colors.

Not all are happy with these specs and some say that they are disappointed with this unknown Spreadtrum processor. But many fans are supporting this initiative and yes obviously they were nowhere in the picture lately and it’s kind of a reboot for them.
