India Imposes Anti-Dumping Duty On Certain Type Of Measuring Tapes Imported From China.

After the Indian government banned China’s 59 apps, the government has given another big blow to China. The Indian government has imposed anti-dumping duty on some measuring tapes and parts and components imported from China for five years. After the India-China border tension, the people of the country were demanding a boycott of Chinese goods from the government.

China has always dumped cheap and inferior quality Chinese goods to India by taking advantage of the World Trade Organization and Free Trade Agreement. The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) has imposed anti-dumping duty on steel and fiber glass measuring tape imported from China.

The DGTR is the Investigation Wing of the Ministry of Commerce. DGTR says that this goods are continuously being dumped in Indian markets by China. Due to dumping, the price is reduced considerably and these goods easily penetrate into the Indian market. Therefore, it has been decided to impose anti-dumping duty to protect the local manufacturers.

The Department of Revenue issued a notification saying that tapes that measure steel and fiber glass imported from China and their parts and components would be subjected to anti-dumping duty for five years. This duty will be Rs. 137 per kg. on some companies and Rs. 192 per kg. on some companies.

The notification states that this duty will have to be paid in Indian currency. This duty was first imposed on July 9, 2015 for five years. Now the same has been extended again for the next five years. If you want, you can remove it prematurely.

All the raw material in the accessories made in India comes from China. Battery and LCD are the most in demand and both of them come from China. Because Chinese companies provide good finishing, they are very much liked among the people. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAT), the apex organization of the country’s traders, is going to make the festivals special. Kat claimed that Chinese goods would be completely boycotted in the coming festivals and domestic products would be available in abundance
