Patalkot Express Train Fire: Indian Railways Initiates Investigation 2023

In response to the Wednesday afternoon fire incident involving the Patalkot Express in the Uttar Pradesh district of Agra, Indian Railways has initiated a high-level investigation. Nine people were injured in all.

The North Central Railway’s Agra Division’s Bhandai station was the scene of the incident. The fire started when the train departed Bhandai station for the next stop, Jajau, and the station is around 10 kilometres from the Agra station.

Four coaches of the Patalkot Express (14624) from Firozpur, Punjab to Sivani, Madhya Pradesh, were completely destroyed by a large fire that broke out close to the Bhadai Railway Station in the Thana Malpura, Agra district.

While the train was travelling from Agra to Jhansi, the event took place. As the fire quickly spread throughout the train’s compartments, passengers panicked and sounded the alarms.

The railway officials and local police responded quickly to the concerns raised by the passengers. Fire tenders and other officers hurried to the scene to put out the roaring fire. As of yet, no casualties have been recorded.

A lot of work is being done to stabilise the situation and stop more harm from happening to the passengers and train.Firefighters are putting out the fire while passengers have been evacuated from the impacted cabins.

The most recent incident involving the Patalkot Express (Train 14624) happened close to Agra Station.

The carriages of the train caught fire close to the Bhandai Railway Station in Agra, which is governed by the Malpura police.

The event was discovered when a plume of smoke was observed emerging from a compartment of the Patalkot Express, which was moving between Sivani in Madhya Pradesh and Firozpur Cantt in Punjab.

The alert was soon raised by the passengers, causing the authorities to act swiftly. According to Indian Railways, smoke was found in the General Seating (GS) coach, which is the fourth coach from the engine. The cause of the fire is still unknown as of right now.

As a result of the fire in the Patalkot Express at Agra Station, no injuries have been reported.

No injuries or fatalities have been recorded as of yet, according to Agra Railway Division Public Relations Officer (PRO) Prashasti Srivastava.

On the other hand, two people were hurt and were taken to the hospital.This occurrence happened after a recent train accident in the Buxar area of Bihar. Train number 12506, which was headed for Kamakhya and Delhi, derailed close to Buxar’s Raghunathpur Station.

Four people tragically lost their lives in the disaster, while more than a hundred passengers were hurt when carriages went off the rails.

As a precaution, the railways altered the itineraries of a number of trains after this occurrence.

A four-person committee has been constituted by the North Central Railway (NCR) to investigate the cause of the occurrence. Satish Kumar, the General Manager of NCR, stated in an interview with financialexpress.com that “Senior Administrative Officers (4 Members), which includes Principal Chief Safety Officer, will conduct an inquiry.

“The train was travelling from Firozpur Cantonment in Punjab to Seoni in Madhya Pradesh at the time of the tragedy. Around 15:45, there was a fire in the third and fourth coaches from the engine.

Following the occupants of the affected coaches being accommodated in other coaches, the train departed for its destination at 20:50 hours.

The event caused several trains to be stopped at different stations, which had an influence on the fire incident on the Agra-Dholpur route.

In 27:05 hours, the Patalkot Express travels 1492 kilometres. The train is in service every day of the week. Passengers can choose between Sleeper Class, AC 3 Economy, AC 3 Tier, and AC 2 Tier seating options on the train.
