NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has mandated all the vehicles that have been sold before April 2019 to have a High Security Registration Plate (HSRP). On Tuesday, all the vehicles without color-coded fuel stickers and without HSRP were being fined by the Delhi Transport Department. Left corner at the bottom of the plate holds a 10-digit PIN (permanent identification number) that is laser- engraved on the reflective sheet.

The prominent reason behind this mandatory rule is that the earlier used number plates were quite easier to be damaged, tamper and can be changed or taken out easily. While identifying a stolen car the 10-digit number along with the stored data becomes crucial.

The High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) are fixed by state authority-approved private vendors and automobile dealerships. The vehicle owner has to mandatorily pass necessary details like chassis number and engine number to get the High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) issued. Preventing the counterfeiting of the registration plates becomes easier and useful with this process.
