The games with the most thriving online communities

Games:Playing a single-player game on your own can be a lot of fun, and there’s certainly nothing wrong with that. For many people, though, sharing the experience is a big part of why they play games in the first place. This doesn’t always mean playing with others in a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). It can just as equally mean participating in online forums, watching and interacting with live streamers as they play games of all kinds (including single-player games), and any other type of interaction with fellow fans and players.

A recent survey of nearly 250,000 gamers found that almost one in ten said a sense of community was their most important motivation for playing a game. Community will also be an important element for many more, even if it is not the top reason for playing a particular game. And community participation can also be just as crucial for game makers and publishers as for players.

Among Us has been one of the biggest gaming hits of the past few years, and much of that success was enabled by content creators and streamers.

Sometimes, the development of a game is very much influenced by its community of players. Where video game sequels were sometimes influenced by player requests and wish lists, the connection is not as strong or immediate as a live service game such as Fortnite, which continuously evolves through updates and seasons. The huge followings of other leading eSports games such as League of Legends and Dota 2 also tend to lead to active and thriving communities.

Online gambling and casino sites are also building up their dedicated fanbases in countries all around the world. Pure Win Casino, for example, has a massive following in India with its fast, fun, and intuitive casino and sportsbook offerings. Catering directly for its audience, it offers popular Indian casino games such as Bollywood Slots and Teen Patti and bets on sports from cricket to kabaddi.

Another interesting aspect of online gaming involves eSports and online platforms that allow members of the public to challenge the pros. Chess grandmasters will occasionally participate in a match with an amateur challenger on platforms like Chess.com – usually with humbling results. Real-life motor racing teams have been known to recruit drivers based on their video game performance, with Jann Mardenborough going on to race in the Le Mans 24 Hour race after winning an online Gran Turismo tournament. And, of course, the eSports stars and celebrities in the likes of the aforementioned likes of Fortnite will frequently hone their skills in the gaming lobbies used by the ‘average’’ user.

One of the best things about online games is the sense of community that they engender. There can be toxic behavior, certainly, but for the most part, these communities are places where participants can meet and interact with others with the same interests, adding another layer of enjoyment to the overall gaming experience.
