Following the usual leaked images, BMW has finally unwrapped the topless version of its new flagship sedan the 8-Series. The 8-Series Convertible has everything we love about the coupe version plus a view of an open sky.
The 8-Series Convertible will be available only in the M850i xDrive variant. It gets a retractable soft-top that can be opened or closed in 15 seconds at speeds up to 48 km/h. The 8 Cabriolet also gets an automatic rollover protection system that can deploy two high-strength aluminum roll bars within a fraction of a second.

Apart from the roof, all the exterior parts are identical to the M850i xDrive Coupe version. The interiors are carried forward from the Coupe too, except the additional controls of the roof and the optional neck warmers and air blowers in the seats. There is a standard wind deflector behind the front seats to reduce the wind flow in the cabin when the roof is down. It can be positioned behind the front seats or folded up and stored in the trunk.
The 8-Series Convertible is powered by a 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 engine that makes 523 horsepower and 748 Nm of torque. It comes paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system. The convertible sprints from 0-96 km/h in 3.8 seconds on its way to an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
