Now, Ola Electric’s head of charging network quits; 32nd resignation in last two years

At Ola Electric, resignations are unavoidable, and now Senior Director and Business Director for Charging Networks Yashwant Kumar has made the decision to leave the organization. In March last year, Kumar, a B.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology, started working for Ola Electric.

He is one of a number of senior staff who have hurriedly left the Bhavish Aggarwal-led electric 2 company in recent months, sources confirmed to IANS on Sunday. These moves were made in the wake of the global financial crisis, supply chain problems, and numerous EV fire incidents that have shaken the confidence of EV buyers in the country.

ET Auto broke the story of Kumar’s resignation first. Ola Electric declined to provide any commentary. Before joining GenY Medium in Hyderabad to be the co-founder and CEO, Kumar spent more than five years working for Procter & Gamble.

Before founding GenY Medium in India, he oversaw branding activities for Pantene and Snack foods in the Southeast Asian regions.

Ranjit Kondeshan, the HR Director at Ola Electric, made the decision to leave last month. Just 13 years after joining the electric transportation startup, Kondeshan left on July 2.

With the other EV players like Ola Electric under investigation by the authorities for battery fires, there have been several high-profile departures in recent months.

In May, Nidhi Chaturvedi Jha left her position to be the regional head at Ola Electric to work for Amazon.

 Varun Dubey, the company’s chief marketing officer, quit the organization in April for “personal reasons.” Previously, Ola Electric’s chief technology officer (CTO), Dinesh Radhakrishnan, left the organization. Per his LinkedIn page, he was named CTO of Ola Electric in May of last year.

Arun Sirdeshmukh, who oversaw Ola Cars, the company’s used-car sales segment, announced his resignation at the same time.

Ola Electric’s revenues decreased once more in the month of June, dropping the business to fourth position overall. According to VAHAN data, 5,869 electric scooters were sold as of June 30. Ola Electric was the leading EV provider in the country in April, but it has witnessed a steady decline in its standing ever since.

The high-profile exits occur be Ola is allegedly preparing its IPO this year at a lesser valuation than first intended because several firms’ IPOs have proven to be a misery for the investors.

Ride-hailing service Ola recently closed Ola Cars, a used car company, and Ola Dash, a quick-commerce company, at a moment when Indian businesses are investing heavily in the 10-15 minute delivery service industry.

Within a year of its introduction, the business closed Ola Cars in order to focus on its electrified two-wheeler and car vertical.

Food Panda, Ola Foods, Ola Cafe, and now Ola Dash have all been closed by Ola thus far. Ola now plans to increase its investments in its financial services, cell manufacturing, and electric vehicle businesses.

After a spate of exits, Ola strengthens its leadership team with key appointments

Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Dinesh Radhakrishan left the organization at a high level after temporary employment that began in May of last year.

Prior to joining Amazon, Nidhi Chaturvedi left her position as regional head of Ola Electric in May.

The leader of the secondary automobile marketplace Ola Cars was Arun Sirdeshmukh. Eight months after the division’s operations began, Ola formally declared its closure to concentrate on its quickly expanding mobility business and electric vehicle section. The company has shut down Ola Dash, its last-mile delivery service.

According to Ola, the Ola Cars’ technology, infrastructure, and competencies will “be repurposed towards expanding our Ola Electric sales and service network.”

Ola Electric has been shaken by a spate of high-level exits at a time when the company is planning to go public, though at a lesser valuation than first planned because of gloomy stock market circumstances.
