PM Modi visits Japan for two days to take part in the Quad Summit and bilateral talks in 2022.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Japan today for a two-day trip to attend a summit of the Quad leaders. The goal of the meeting is to strengthen cooperation among the powerful group’s members and talk about what’s going on in the important Indo-Pacific region.

Then, he talked to a boy waiting for him with a tricolour drawing. Next, Prime Minister Modi asked him where he had learned Hindi and complimented him on how well he spoke it.

On May 24, US President Joe Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and the next prime minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, will join PM Modi at the Quad summit in Tokyo.
In his departure statement, PM Modi said, “In Japan, I will also take part in the second in-person Quad Leaders’ Summit. This will give the leaders of the four Quad countries a chance to review the progress of Quad initiatives.”
“We will also talk about changes in the Indo-Pacific region and global issues of mutual interest,” said PM Modi, whose trip to Japan is happening as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine worsens.
India, the United States, Japan, and Australia are part of the Quad or Quadrilateral Security Dialogue.

Mr Modi is going to Tokyo at the request of his Japanese counterpart, Fumio Kishida. He will have separate meetings with Mr Biden, Mr Kishida, and Mr Albanese during the summit.
In March 2022, he had Mr Kishida over for the 14th India-Japan Annual Summit.
Mr Modi said before his trip, “When I go to Tokyo, I’m looking forward to continuing our conversation so that we can strengthen the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership.”
He said that the way India and Japan work together on the economy is a big part of their Special Strategic and the Global Partnership.
Mr Modi also said that he is looking forward to a meeting with the newly elected Australian Prime Minister Albanese. During this meeting, they will talk about the many ways their countries work together under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and some of the regional and global issues that are important to both.
Mr Modi said that he is excited to meet the nearly 40,000 Indians who live in Japan. He said these people are an important part of India’s relationship with Japan.
