After all the rumors and leaks, the Oppo sub-brand has finally confirmed that Realme is launching its second generation smartphone in the country. The Realme 1 successor is going to be a massive upgrade over its predecessor.
The company again plans to disrupt the mid-range smartphone market with its competitive pricing and top-end features.
After a successful run with Realme 1, Oppo is now focusing more on its sub-brand Realme in India to grow its sales and market share. Realme 2 will launch in the country on August 28, just three months after Realme 1.

Realme 1 missed out on a couple of important features like dual cameras and fingerprint sensor.
Though, in all the first Realme smartphone was a complete package, the company plans to link up with gaps this time with Realme 2.
The growing craze of notch and edge to edge displays has pushed Realme to put in a notch in their next device. So, the Realme 2 will come with a small notch at the top of the display housing the earpiece, front camera and sensors.
89% Screen To Body Ratio
Realme 1 came with an 18:9 widescreen display with a screen to body ratio of 75.7 percent. But, Realme 2 is coming with a whopping 88.8 percent screen to body ratio. If compared, OnePlus 6 has 84 percent screen and iPhone X has 82 percent screen.
The smartphone will finally come with a rear dual camera system, one of the most-missed features on Realme 1. The smartphone will house a 13 megapixel primary sensor coupled with a 2 megapixel secondary depth sensor backed by AI imaging capabilities.
Realme 1 gave the fingerprint sensor a miss. Though, to make it up this time, the Oppo company is putting in a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for extra security and user satisfaction. It will come with the Face Unlock feature as well.
Qualcomm recently welcomed Realme to the Snapdragon family. Realme 2 will pack in a Snapdragon chipset ditching its MediaTek processor. We are expecting a Snapdragon 636 or 660 in Realme 2.
Fast Charging Support
With Qualcomm Snapdragon, Realme 2 will come with fast charging support this time. The smartphone is expected to come with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging support.
Realme 1 came with a 3,300mAh battery. But, the Realme 2 will see an upgrade in terms of battery capacity as well with a massive 4,230mAh battery this time.
The smartphone will run the latest Android 8.1 Oreo with a Color OS skin on top. Realme 2 will come with AI based features that will help to improve user experience and device performance.
Glass Diamond Body Finish

Improved Face Unlock
Several Realme 1 users complained of multiple failed attempts with the Face Unlock feature. Though the company is putting up a fingerprint scanner, at the same time it will improve the Face Unlock feature this time.

The company has already confirmed that the device will be launching on August 28 in India. Coming to the cost, the Realme 2 will again be priced very competitively. The smartphone will mainly target the sub-15,000 segment with newly launched smartphones like Mi A2 and Nokia 6.1 Plus.
As per the rumours, the Realme 2 will come a starting price of Rs 11,999, which may go upto Rs 15,999 for the higher variants.
