Ram Mandir; A defeat of democracy and secularism & The Success of Hindutva: AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi

Yesterday, PM Narendra Modi visited these days attention magnet, Ram Janmabhoomi to strive the bell of commencement for the construction of the grand Ram temple. The 5th of August actually became a historic day not for political and social dreamers and leaders but also for the major section of the Indians. With a 40 kg silver brick, the Prime Minister laid the founding stone of the long craved auspicious Ram Mandir.

Prime Minister in his traditional avatar wearing golden kurta and dhoti bowed before the deity of Ram Lalla Virajman. After Shankhnaad, Modi offered his prayers to the deity before making a parikrama of the shrine.

The 16th-century mosque that was demolished by Hindu mobs in 1992 and sparked riots that killed nearly 2 thousand people, is believed that it has finally served justice to Ayodhya’s Ram Janmabhoomi. The Prime Minister said that the site had been liberated and a grand house would, at last, be constructed for Lord Ram who had been kept in a tent for years. Her he referred to a temporary construction that had been the shelter to the idol of infant Ram or Ram Lalla for more than thirty years while the court case dragged on.

But we all know that every coin has two sides, where on one hand people are finally celebrating this huge construction inauguration of the temple, on the other hand, people appear with distinguished opinions. And one of the most raised among them is the question of secularity. Many people felt as if serving temple to the Hindus somehow served injustice to the Islam followers. An important personality, President of AIMIM, Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi raised the same question. According to him Prime Minister, Modi is to be blamed for violating the oath of the office as he laid the stone of the Ram Temple. He presented the PM as a disobeyer of our constitution’s major possession, democracy. As per Owaisi, with the success of Hindutva, Modi defeated democracy and secularism in the nation.

He expressed that he is equally emotional about the mandir construction as the PM but the reasons are different. On one side the heightened emotions are of joy and on Owaisi’s side, it is of sorrow. The sorrow of his trembled believes in coexistence and equality of citizenship. He showcases his grief by mentioning about the 450 years long existence of the mosque on that land.

His blame game did not stop there, as per him, the Prime Minister is not the only person who is needed to be blamed but Congress party has equal participation in this demolition of Babri Mosque. He accused both Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and Congress who claim to be secular, by this action are exposed to be not-so-secular parties.

In a population of more than 135 crores, people tend to have different beliefs. It is important that the coexistence continues even after possessing such vivid opinions. The constitution does pay respect to all and hence has allotted a 5-acre plot for the Mosque construction. But it would be interesting to watch what happens next when it would be the time for serving Islam followers for what they ask for.
