According to reports, 79 deaths among individuals who received the jab were examined by experts at the state and central levels. The National AEFI Committee approved 8 deaths for causality assessment.
The detailed information obtained by Inventiva shows that after the coronavirus’ vaccine injection, there were 8 recent deaths. The detailed information shows a causal relationship in time, but there is not enough evidence that the vaccine itself caused the death.
As of mid-March, 79 individuals who reported being vaccinated had died. The National Committee responsible for the AEFI (Adverse Events Following Immunization) against the coronavirus approved causality assessments for eight of them.
HT has reviewed the evaluation of the eight deaths analyzed in March (the other two deaths were assessed earlier). Of the eight causal assessment cases, three were consistent with the causality of the vaccine, four cases were found to be inconsistent with the causality of the vaccine (coincidence), and one of them could not be classified.
Coronavirus Vaccines Causing Deaths
Experts said in the analysis that none was found to be due to the coronavirus vaccine shot.
Among the 8 deaths recently analyzed, Maharashtra and Karnataka respectively reported 2 deaths, and Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, and Madhya Pradesh each reported 1 death. The deceased was between 36 and 61 years old; three of them were women and the rest were men.
3 deaths were occurred by experts in the so-called B1 category, which means that “the time relationship is consistent, but there is insufficient evidence to prove that the vaccine caused the event”, while 4 cases in the accidental category were described as “potential or emerging conditions, or a condition caused by exposure to a non-vaccine”, according to the definition given by the expert group.
One of the deaths in the B1 category was a 61-year-old man from Thana, Maharashtra. He was vaccinated on January 20 and died suddenly 11 days after being vaccinated.
As we all know, he suffers from high blood pressure and cardiac problem and is receiving the same medication. Experts concluded that cardiac arrest may be caused by a cardiovascular event.
They believe that Covid-19 is known to trigger prothrombotic conditions and cardiovascular events.
Another death in category B1 was a 38-year-old man from Harda in MP who received a jab on January 28 and died of cardiac arrest.
A young patient without any cardiac risk factors received a coronavirus vaccine shot because of infection after two months (8 weeks and 4 days).
The committee concluded that Covid-19 is known to trigger cardiovascular disease events and prethrombotic conditions.
The third case of B1 was a 36-year-old woman from Belagavi, Karnataka. She received a shot and suffered a stroke on January 22.
We all know that coronavirus disease causes thrombocytopenia and pro-inflammatory and pro-thrombotic states.
The acute stroke vaccine that causes severe stroke thrombocytopenia is biologically plausible, experts said in their analysis.
Among the four coincidental cases, there was a 52-year-old woman from Aurangabad, Maharashtra, who was stabbed on January 29. She has aura risk factors for hypertension.
The expert said that patient had documented myocardial infarction (clinical assessment, ECG, post mortem finding of necrotic patch in inferior wall of heart).
On January 16, a 43-year-old man from Ballari in Karnataka received a shot and found dead. He was also put in the coincidental death category.
Experts said: He had risk factors for myocardial infarction, including long-standing diabetes, hypertension, and high blood pressure.
The third case in this category is a 52-year-old woman from the Mancherial district of Telangana who was stabbed on January 19.
The patient had symptoms like fever, cough, and dyspnea, and had a blood pressure of 210/120mmHg. LVF (left heart failure) who was clinically diagnosed with pneumonia can accelerate HTN (hypertension); experts concluded.
The analysis stated that the fourth case was of a 56-year-old man from Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, who was vaccinated on January 28. Experts further stated that: this was a known case of coronary artery disease.
The only unclassified case is a 43-year-old man from Saran, Bihar, who was vaccinated on January 18.
After the coronavirus vaccination, a special team was established to conduct the causality assessment of AEFI. The results of the causality assessment conducted by this special group will be discussed at the National AEFI Committee meeting for final approval.
There was slight clinical information and no diagnosis was considered. Postmortem was not done, said the experts.
The final analysis results will be sent to the Immunization Department of the alliance Ministry of Health, which stores the data at the central level. The evaluation results of the eight cases were completed on March 9.
To date, out of 68 million doses, AEFI has been reported in 0.028% of cases, for a total of 19,250 cases.
An expert investigating AEFI cases said: The number of people who have experienced any form of post-immunization side effects is also very small, and the number of people who suffer from side effects that require hospitalization is much smaller.
