Top 10 Best Antivirus in India in 2022

Top 10 Antivirus in India in 2022

If you’re seeking the most acceptable online device protection in 2022, you’ve come to the right place – we’ve put all of the leading antivirus companies to the test to come up with a definitive list of the best.

The first step in remaining safe online is to get antivirus software. It’s still the best way to protect yourself against fraudsters who wish to use your online devices for their financial advantage.

The way viruses behave and their ultimate goal have evolved throughout time, but the goal remains the same: to steal your money. Malware, ransomware, and Trojan horses are all meant to steal your data or damage your system to the point that you’ll have to pay a significant sum of money to fix it. Then some are plain con artists…

You’ve probably figured out why virus protection is so important. Fortunately, the top antivirus companies in 2022 combine watertight security with extra features to keep you safe from scammers, as well as being simple to install and use.

Top 10 best antivirus software of 2022

1. Bitdefender Antivirus

Antivirus

Bitdefender comes out on top as TechRadar’s best antivirus, beating out some tough competition while charging very little in terms of subscription fees.

So, what makes it so appealing? To begin with, the sheer number of capabilities included with Bitdefender is very astounding. Even if you get Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, you’ll get Safepay online banking protection, which is essentially a secure browser that guards you against all angles. A password manager and a high-quality VPN with a daily bandwidth cap of 200MB are all included.

Bitdefender is incredibly user-friendly, with a professional and well-balanced UI that’s suitable for complete beginners as well as specialists looking to adjust things.

For example, Bitdefender Internet Security contains all of the above, as well as the ability to speed up your computer and track down lost or stolen mobile devices. Bitdefender Total Security is the company’s flagship product. It includes a variety of PC maintenance tools and support for Android and iOS devices, as well as Windows and Mac PCs – in other words, it’s a one-stop shop for your entire family’s online security needs.

In prior years’ reviews, we’d be discussing how Bitdefender outperforms the competition in terms of pure virus protection. However, this isn’t the case this year, as the AV-Comparatives study shows less accurate results than usual. Given Bitdefender’s past performance, we’re willing to give it the benefit of the doubt for the time being, but we’ll keep a close check on the independent lab results this year to see if that picture changes.

Regardless of the Bitdefender edition you choose, you’ll receive a lot of bang for your buck, especially with Total Security if you have a lot of different devices (or a family to protect). You’ll also have the assurance of knowing 2022’s best antivirus software covers you.

2. Norton AntiVirus

Antivirus

Norton AntiVirus Plus is a well-known antivirus programme from NortonLifeLock, a security company. The key draw here is the enormous number of functions you get – even with the entry-level Antivirus Plus product – as well as the high quality of those features.

They contain a very useful intelligent firewall that is a massive help in system policing and some pervasive browser protection features to keep you secure online.

Some features not found in other antivirus programmes, such as a bundled cloud backup tool with 2GB of online storage (which is also highly user-friendly, making backup a breeze) and other helpful PC maintenance software, are not found in other antivirus programmes.

The package’s central antivirus defences are vital, as we discovered in our testing and as independent test laboratories have confirmed (albeit with slightly mixed results from one of those labs). Norton came up a little short in our ransomware testing compared to Bitdefender’s more effective ransomware protection.

If you need more, NortonLifeLock has several higher-level suites available. Norton 360 Standard includes an integrated complete VPN service, greater backup capacity (10GB), and dark web surveillance, among other features (for some countries, including the US and UK). Mobile apps for Android and iOS are also available.

If you need protection for more than one device, you’ll need to upgrade to Norton 360 Deluxe, which includes protection for up to five devices, as well as extra backup space (50GB) and a comprehensive system of parental controls. At the same time, 360 Premium boosts it to 75GB of storage and ten devices.

3. Kaspersky Antivirus

This security firm’s entry-level solution for Windows PCs is Kaspersky Anti-Virus, covering ten computers. Kaspersky doesn’t offer as many features as some of the other solutions on this list, but it focuses on security essentials and performs a fantastic job.

Kaspersky’s core antivirus capabilities are pretty robust, with the company scoring at or near the top in all of the significant independent test laboratories’ most recent findings. That’s fantastic news, and our testing confirmed it, with Kaspersky Anti-Virus functioning well against ransomware, eradicating even unknown threats relatively instantly and recovering the few data impacted by the attack. Kaspersky also has some helpful self-protection features.

Kaspersky hasn’t released much new in the last year or two, and there weren’t many extras, to begin with, as we mentioned.

Some of the other features aren’t useful. Kaspersky’s several ‘wizards,’ for example, leave a lot to be desired, with one of them only supporting Internet Explorer (not even Edge, let alone Chrome which is the most popular browser by far). Although an integrated VPN is minimal (no destination selection and a daily cap of 200MB), it could still be handy in a pinch.

The good news is that the larger suites have more fascinating extras for bonuses. Kaspersky Internet Security comes with an intelligent firewall (that rarely asks you questions) and a secure browser, and it works on Macs and Android and iOS mobile devices.

On top of that, Kaspersky Total Security includes:

  • Intelligent parental controls.
  • A full-featured password manager.
  • Automated local (or Dropbox) backups.

Those are some valuable extras, and given that Total Security isn’t much more expensive than Internet Security (with discounts), it’s probably worth getting unless you don’t need them.

4. Trend Micro Antivirus

Antivirus

Trend Micro Antivirus+ Security provides short yet efficient protection, with a user-friendly interface that explains all of the settings in plain English rather than jargon.

The app’s antivirus engine has received excellent ratings from independent test laboratories. It has produced some fantastic outcomes in recent evaluations – with the caveat that it raised a few more false positives than the top competitors in some tests. However, in our Trend Micro review, we didn’t find this a problem, and in fact, we found Antivirus+ Security’s anti-ransomware protection to be relatively strong.

Another plus is that this antivirus is now the best at stopping phishing sites (according to AV-Comparatives). It offers excellent web browsing protection, including Pay Guard, which creates a secure environment for things like online banking.

Are there any flaws? System speed is impacted more than some competitors. This is a novice-oriented application, not an export-oriented tool. Thus there aren’t as many options or features as some competition. On the other hand, trend Micro’s higher-level security suites come with a lot more features.

The next-tier service, Trend Micro Internet Security, includes features like parental controls and social media protection. However, trend Micro Maximum Security, which covers Mac and mobile devices and Windows, will be worth more money for most consumers.

5. Avast One Antivirus

Antivirus

Unlike most of the 2022 upgrades on this list, Avast pulled everything apart and started with its current release, Avast One.

Avast One builds on the company’s popular free antivirus (now known as Avast One Essential) by adding new capabilities.

Whether you go for the free or paid versions, the programme is now quite popular with independent testing laboratories, placing towards the top of the heap in real-world malware tests and anti-phishing tasks.

A simple firewall, data breach detection to alert you if your online accounts are hacked, and apps for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS are all included.

So, why should you pay for Avast One? It includes a VPN from HideMyAss with a substantial 5GB weekly capacity, as well as tune-up tools, ad blockers, camera protection, malicious URL blocking, and not much else. To spend money on one of those specific add-ons, you’d have to want it honestly; otherwise, we’d recommend opting for a more comprehensive internet security suite or just staying with the free Essential download.

6. Microsoft Defender Antivirus

Antivirus

In 2021, we noticed a lot of articles stating that the time to pay for antivirus software was coming to an end. And, while we disagree with it in general, Microsoft Defender is perhaps the most compelling argument in its favour.

That’s because, if you’re a Windows user, your operating system already has excellent malware protection built-in.

Microsoft Defender is a strong programme that provides capable mid-range protection – most of the time without consumers even realising it. The defender has its interface, scan options, and so on, but you won’t notice them until you look for them.

The defender came in the right in the middle of the 17 providers examined by independent lab AV-Comparatives. That means it protects your computer better than some of the more expensive software available.

It has a lot of other functions, such as multi-layered anti-ransomware, firewall, webcam and privacy protection, browser filtering, parental controls, and backup, in addition to virus protection.

So, what’s preventing you from setting Defender up and forgetting about the rest? Those features are all quite basic, and they don’t compare to those supplied by most of the security suites listed above. Defender is only accessible on Windows PCs – forget about securing your Mac or smartphone – and other capabilities are only compatible with Edge if you use it as your browser.

7. Avira antivirus

Antivirus

In actuality, Avira is perhaps best known for its Avira Free antivirus option (which is one of the best out there – check lower down this page). Still, its premium packages are not to be overlooked, especially given the fantastic pricing for its Antivirus Pro package.

This is the name of Avira’s entry-level antivirus, and it includes all of the features you’d expect from a modern security app, including real-time malware scanning, dedicated ransomware defences, a software updater feature to keep all of your apps secure, and a variety of privacy tools, including a file shredder for added security.

The interface is intuitive, and the numerous services, such as the free (but restricted to 1GB monthly) VPN, are now better incorporated into the main user interface.

The caveat is that independent test lab evaluations for the antivirus engine are only mediocre at best – but the software does provide enough security.

Upgrade to Internet Security to have access to additional features such as a complete password manager and the Pro edition of Software Updater (which allows automated programme updates), as well as unrestricted VPN usage and mobile app support.

However, Antivirus Plus is unquestionably the most acceptable value offer at the current super-low price. You’re barely paying more than the free version, making this a very appealing option.

8. McAfee antivirus

Antivirus

McAfee offers an unusual approach to security, as all of its products are variations of its basic Total Protection solution, with the significant distinction being that higher levels support more devices. McAfee Total Protection Single Device is an entry-level antivirus solution that, as the name suggests, only covers one device.

The thing is that McAfee has a tiny system footprint, which means it won’t take up a lot of your PC’s resources. There are numerous options accessible, especially for a primary product, and even if they aren’t all of the most excellent quality, you get a lot for your money. There’s also an intelligent firewall, an integrated (TunnelBear-powered) VPN with unlimited data, a strong spam filter, a safe file vault, and various PC speed-up utilities.

The primary stumbling issue here is that the antivirus engine isn’t the best – although some independent test lab findings are better than others – this has to be a cause for concern. There’s also the issue that you only get protection for one device with the basic service.

9. Webroot SecureAnywhere AntiVirus

Antivirus

Almost every antivirus programme claims to be “lightweight,” but Webroot SecureAnywhere AntiVirus lives up to the hype. The app’s memory footprint is even smaller (less than 2% of the size of specific internet security suites), and virus definitions are saved in the cloud. It merely takes a few seconds to set up and takes up very little space on your hard drive.

Despite this, Webroot does not skimp on features, making it even more impressive.

McAfee Total Protection Single Device is an entry-level antivirus product covering only one device, as the name suggests. You get rapid virus scans that take no more than around 20 seconds, along with an intelligent ‘firewall’ monitoring system, accurate real-time anti-phishing, identity theft protection and much more.

Except for SE Laboratories, which rated Webroot as solid malware protection in its most recent Home Anti-Malware report – though not entirely up to par with the top competition – the big-name testing labs don’t rank SecureAnywhere AntiVirus.

SecureAnywhere Internet Security Plus is a Webroot product that extends protection from Windows and Mac PCs to mobile devices and provides a password manager (courtesy of LastPass) and covers up to five devices (rather than three).

At the top of the tree, Internet Security Complete adds an automatic backup tool (with 25GB of safe cloud storage) and extra online privacy features. The flagship suite now comes in a Family Pack form, extending device coverage to ten pieces of gear and including 100GB of cloud storage.

SecureAnywhere AntiVirus is genuinely all you need, however for the most comprehensive solution; we recommend Internet Security Plus. Another benefit worth noting is Webroot’s extended 70-day money-back guarantee, which instils confidence in users.

10. Sophos Home AntiVirus

Antivirus

Sophos Home Premium can protect up to ten devices (Windows and Mac computers). Although specialists may find the UI simple and dissatisfied with the lack of features or low-level modifications, it is developed with novices in mind, which isn’t bad.

The user interface is also a touch awkward at times, but the web management console could be helpful for anyone who wishes to manage and control their non-tech-savvy family members’ devices.

Sophos delivers capable virus protection, and it passed our anti-ransomware tests with flying colours. Sophos Home Premium could be an excellent value proposition for people who wish to secure many PCs, given the antivirus software on offer and the ten device limit.

Just keep in mind that Sophos no longer provides new customers with a long-term free version. You can get it free from the internet, but it’s only a trial edition, not an all-in-one antivirus programme.
