Swiggy, Zomato and Flipkart Start Delivery Of Essential Items Amid Lockdown

Coronavirus has created havoc in the entire world. All economic operations, businesses, day to day activities has come to a standstill. This virus originally originated in Wuhan, China and has now spread in the entire world.

India too is facing this crisis. In this backdrop, the Indian government has imposed a nationwide 21 days lockdown to contain its spread. As a result all business and economic activities are shut. Since the spread could not get contain, the government is considering to extend the lockdown. Amidst such a situation, transportation of essential commodities is becoming a problem and this is increasing tension among people

However, one does not need to worry or become nervous as e-retailing company Flipkart and Tata Consumer Products Ltd has joined hands to provide essential food and beverage products at your doorstep. At the same time, food delivery apps Swiggy and Zomato are also offering similar facilities.

Delivery at your doorstep

The announcement was made by the two companies in a joint statement on Saturday. Using the Flipkart platform, consumers can order various combo packs of beverages (Tata Tea and Coffee) and other essential products (Tata Spices, Pulses and Nutri Mix). Flipkart will ensure delivery of these items to the doorsteps of consumers. According to the company’s statement, the facility is currently operational in Bengaluru and will soon start in Mumbai. In the coming week, this facility will also be available in Delhi and in future this facility can be extended to Tier 2 cities. 

Apart from this, the food delivery app Swiggy has also started delivering groceries and other essential items to Tier-1 and 2 cities. Swiggy has tied up with many offline retailers. It also includes the giant Megamart and Marico. The company claims that it will deliver the groceries in just 2 hours. Apart from this, customers can also avail the pick and drop facility with the help of Swiggy Go. With the help of this feature you can avail pick and drop on any item from your nearest store. Last week, another food delivery app, Zomato, also started delivering groceries in 80 cities. Zomato said that the facility has been launched in India and the UAE.

In India total case rises to 7,447; death toll rises to 239

The number of people infected with corona in the world has reached to 16,19,944 and the death toll has crossed one lakh. At the same time, after the number of 1035 cases reported in India in the last 24 hours, the number of people affected by Covid-19 has increased to 7,447. At the same time, 40 people have died due to corona in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll of the Covid-19 epidemic to 239. Total number of people recovered in India is 643.
