Mr. Paras Mittal, a CA and Company Secretary by profession and an entrepreneur by choice decided to quit his well-off job and start his own company. Paras during his job tenure faced many issues related to service deliverables, corporate conflicts, breach, and manipulation of various work deliverables etc. Having been a keen observer and a realist, he decided to redefine the workspace environment for service industry in India which shares a whopping 48.93% of India’s GDP.

Paras noticed that issues with corporate and startups creep in every other day relating to the service delivery, work methods, monitoring, deficiency of professional commitment, manipulative practices etc, which throws light on the supremely unorganized service environment in the country. Lack of proper communication, a threat to the security of documents, professional disputes, payment model adherence, and milestone work monitoring etc are a handful of problems being dealt with by PNJ to minimize such issues and improve the service quality and deliverable(s) considerably.

  1. What is the Name of Your Venture? Any specific reason for this name?
    PNJ Professionals Networking Joint Pvt Ltd, Earlier PNJ stands with 3 promoter names Paras, Neha and Jyotika. Later on, it is converted to Professional networking joint.
  1. Who is your target Audience/clients?
    We have many features for the professionals, like space sharing, E-certification programme on management topics and Chat with an expert. Professionals in middle-level management services and corporate/SME/High Networth individuals are our clients.
  1. Where is your venture based (city, state, country) & What are your geographical target areas?
    We started in Delhi/NCR India. Very sooner as more and more professionals join, we will target whole India.
  1. What problems does your venture resolve? What are your products or services? Our venture is solving the basic weakness in the traditional service delivery method. Lack of proper communication, security of documents, client professional dispute, payment model, milestone work monitoring. We have services of merger acquisition, legal dispute, corporate governance, real estate, taxation, vaastu and interior designing.
  1. Share the idea or story behind the venture. How did it come to an existence? What motivated you to start your own venture?
    It comes out of my experience, I have been in the industry for last 13 years sometimes as professional and sometimes as a client. Whenever I got any conflict with the client on documentation or payments, I always think to redesign service delivery method.
  1. Who are your biggest competitors and how do you differentiate yourself from them?
    Urban clap, freelancer, Fiverr, elancer are our biggest competitor. We are very different from them as they are lead generating models and we have complete service delivery model.
  1. How did you identify your co-founder? Tell us something about your co-founder/s.
    I actually don’t need cofounder; I need manpower, funding, investor, team, and consultants. I tried bringing synergy with cofounder twice but none of the time got to succeed as my wavelength is very difficult to be matched.
  1. How did you hire your first team members? What skills Do you want in your employees/team?
    I did the hiring of interns from lets intern and internshalla and also source the management trainees by holding camps in universities. I am always looking for good English speaking, hardworking and candidates who took initiatives.
  1. What expansion plans are you looking for the next 2 years, next 5 years?
    I am looking to expand our associate network and also new services to be added. I am planning to take it to global countries outside India too.
  1. Where do you want to see yourself in the next 10 years?
    I am not looking for anything less than 1 billion dollars valued group.
  1. What are your goals over the next 1, 3, 6 and 12 months?
    Over the next 12 months, I am looking to attract more and more visitors whether professionals or clients. Traffic and client lead generation is a primary goal for next 12 months.
  1. Have you raised any funding? Or have any plans for the funding?
    No, I worked on the bootstrap model. I do need funding for a lot of marketing activities and team building.
  1. What were the problems you faced during the starting days and how did you resolve them?
    I faced the biggest problem in IT development, even I was cheated twice on the development and designing issues. Ultimately on the third and fourth instance, I got right vendor with right delivery.
  1. What was the most challenging part of your journey till now? How did you overcome those challenges?
    The most challenging part was a decision to leave a job with a good position and good package and start from scratch on startup. I somehow go with my inner instinct and take a gamble considering this is the right time to take a bold decision.
  1. Are you married, single or in a relationship?
    Married
  1. What are your hobbies? What do you do in your non-work time?
    Watching TV and surfing net and reading articles.

    Chaap tikka’s and Singapore
  1. Whom do you consider your idol or biggest motivator?
    In the whole of my journey, if there is anybody to whom I looked from very close is myself. I worked on self-motivation and self-confidence.
  1. What do you feel is the major difference between entrepreneurs and those who work for someone else?
    There are many differences; I revolve with this decision for 13 years. The entrepreneur has time, flexibility, freedom and whereas team members have fixed salary and milestone and timelines. The entrepreneur is one who takes a risk and work on vision and team members help entrepreneurs to achieve their visions.
  1. If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?
    I might take the decision of leaving the job and starting something on own very sooner.
  1. How has being an entrepreneur affected your family & Social life?
    I am a person who loves to spend a lot of time with family so after being an entrepreneur I used to spend more time with them.

    I am a chartered accountant and company secretary by profession. My sister Jyotika is qualified CS and my wife Neha is qualified MBA Finance. I am blessed with 2 sons.
  1. What is your USP which makes it unique & different from other start-ups in similar domains?
    We have to chat with an expert function where the clients can interact with professionals with help of video chat for 5 min to 30 min. We have C-suite hiring where professionals are hired for a day. We have milestone planning for each work and cash flow and progress monitored with help of automated functions integrated on the website. We have E-certification programme for middle-level management services with practical learning.
  1. What do you think is the biggest threat to the success of small businesses & Start-ups today?
    Scalability of business, Geographical boundations, and funds.
  1. Do you consider yourself successful and by what means do you measure success?
    I don’t measure success by money. I always believe in giving something back to the society. Whatever we are working small or big, it is for benefit of society at large. I am not in favor of those who went abroad in initial stages of career and take high packages but never considered to work in India for some improvement or betterment of country by paying tax in India. I saw many professionals who even don’t know by their fellow professionals because they were never involved in professional community development. I considered myself to be successful as I am paying tax to the Indian government in 5 figures.
