But leather was always the most acceptable, classy, elegant and stylo thing to manufacture bags. The leather-based industry especially leather products industry (footwear, garment, leather goods) is highly fashion oriented. Moreover, articles made of genuine leather are complementing clothing. Leather products (shoes, garment, leather goods) is important export earner for many developing countries. In many countries leather products export ranks within the first three places in the total export.
Leather and the leather industry has been around a long while – there are those who claim it is the second oldest profession in the world. Going back a few millennia, when our earliest ancestors decided that sitting on hard rock wasn’t a soft option, they turned to other materials to create more comfortable seating, as well as warmer bedding and some more acceptable form of clothing to go out in. Meet Abhishek Khanna the proud owner of two business units Ess Ess Overseas & Mats India design manufacturing leather products and exporting to countries like Australia, USA, UK, Germany, Spain, Italy & Almost 20+ High income countries. Now launching his own fashion brand Zwina manufacturing fashion bags, laptop bags, female hand bags under his upcoming brand Zwina.

1.What is the Name of Your Venture?
I am basically running two manufacturing units as of now. Ess Ess Overseas solely for Export to Europe, Australia, Americas as well as Mats India Design for Indian Clients & Businesses. Now I am launching my own brand of bags for males and females with the name Zwina
2.Who is your target Audience?
All males & females crazy for fashion, leather handbags, fashion bags, laptop & official bags with a style, elegance & quality. We even cater to corporate for Gifting on special occasions and festivals.
3.Where is your venture based ( city, state, country) & What are your target areas?
My Ventures are based in Delhi, India and we cater to the clients in India, Middle East, Europe, Australia, Americas
4.What problems does your venture solve? What are your products or services.
We are a leather bags manufacturer, we choose our own leather and make our bags ourself, now a days there are lot of companies or manufacturer who sell you non-leather bags in the name of pure leather and layman are not able to identify the quality of the product for the amount they pay.
We choose 100% leather from genuine sources etc and use genuine leather in our products, We respect the class and elegance of our customers and very well know that they need quality products.
5.Share the idea or story behind the venture. How did it come to an existence?
I am not from a family of business tycoons. My father did his LLB and then joined in a bank. My mother is a home maker but all our relatives are in one or the other business of clothing etc and they have their own shops in chandni chowk as well as many posh localities in delhi. Some of my relatives also own their own manufacturing units. I was always influenced by their business, when ever my family use to take me to meet our relatives, I always use to go to their shops, factories and hear their business conversation, which highly motivated and influenced me.
After my graduation, I decided to start my own venture.
6.How did you identify your co-founder?
I dont have a co-founder yet.
7.What expansion plans are you looking for the next 2 years, next 5 years?
My both the manufacturing units are already going good, now I am launching my brand so I want to see this brand to be a household brand in the next few years. I basically see every HNI, Corporate & female going for high profile parties carrying our bags.
8.Where do you want to see yourself in next 5 years?
To be a successful brand owner
9.Have you raised any funding? Or have any plans for the funding?
No, and we don’t need any funding, our business is self sustained.
10.What were the problems you faced during the starting days and how did you resolve them?
I was very passionate about leather, I myself was very choosy and picky about high quality leather. Once I went to a small retailer to buy a belt and the guy tried selling me a Rexene belt telling me that its a leather belt, when I was telling him that this is Rexene and not leather, he asked me, how do I know so much about leather, that was the day when I decided to have my own manufacturing unit for bags, leather belts, purses etc and provide quality products to our clients. In the initial days, I got some issues like I was not able to find quality leather manufacturers around me and then I made some international contacts from where we import our leather today. By gods grace our vendors are very supportive.
11.Are you married, single or in a relationship?
I am single right now.
12.What are your hobbies? What do you do in your non-work time?
I love playing pool, I love driving. I am a fitness freak and love to spend my time in gym working on my health and body
13.Whats your favourite food & holiday destination?
I am a hardcore fan of nature and love traveling places where I am able to see natural beauty. For my personal relaxing trips I always prefer to go to Indonesia, Brazil, Costa Rica and for my business trips I always prefer to go to USA, UK, Australia, Dubai, Qatar.
14.Whom do you consider your idol or biggest motivator?
Why do I need a motivator? I am a self starter
15.What do you feel is the major difference between entrepreneurs and those who work for someone else?
I never worked for anyone so cant tell you this.
16.If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?
I would love to be in same field, I am in love with leather.
17.How has being an entrepreneur affected your family & Social life?
Lets see, I am not yet an entrepreneur, I was a business person and now would be a entrepreneur after the launch of my brand.

Always focus on your goals, be very clear about your thoughts and targets, Always have patience and your hard work will always pay you back.
19.Tell us something about your education & family background.
I am a graduate, my father did his LLB and was a banker, my mother is a housewife, I was born and brought up from a middle class family.
20.What is your USP which makes it unique & different from other start-ups in similar domains.
Leather Leather Leather, I just love it. People who want to buy leather will only buy leather no matter what other options you offer them and with the emerging consumption of leather, many fake forms of leather are available in the market which may soil and hamper your class and taste.
I always prefer to offer my clients genuine leather products, I test my leather myself, we also send it to labs for testing, we always tend to offer what client is looking for.
Genuine leather products is our main USP and aim.
