On Tuesday, N. Biren Singh, the chief minister of Manipur, introduced the “One-time Financial Assistance (OFA)” programme, which will provide Rs 1,000 per head for clothes and other personal items.

The “One-time Financial Assistance (OFA)” of Rs 1,000 per head for clothes and other personal items was made available to individuals residing in relief camps after being uprooted from their homes and villages as a result of the ethnic unrest that began on May 3 by Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on Tuesday. On Tuesday, the Chief Minister paid visits to the relief facilities at the Youth Hostel, Khuman Lampak in the Imphal East district, and Lamphel in the Imphal West district, and he began distributing the aid.

Singh lamented the sudden recurrence of terrible happenings in the state’ that began on May 3 and said that many people had been forced to leave their homes. In his brief statement to the camp’s residents at the Youth Hostel, he insisted that the government was doing everything it could to offer the displaced people refuge and temporary housing options.

The Chief Minister indicated that the displaced individuals would remain at the temporary housing facilities till the peace and order situation improved. Temporary housing is being built at several locations for the displaced people. The inhabitants would go back to their houses after the situation had improved. She thanked women, civil society organizations (CSOs), and state authorities for being vigilant and stopping several unfortunate instances, which helped to save lives.

He said that the government has decided to provide each individual staying in relief camps Rs 1000 after considering the hardships endured by the displaced people. The Deputy Commissioners of various districts would offer this support.

“The administration has been utilizing its various tools to bring peace and normalcy to the state. The Chief Minister warned the populace not to believe in rumours and to maintain their composure by stating that the security forces had been sent to secure locations in the surrounding areas and the people.

Following his visit, the Chief Minister tweeted: “Visited the Relief Camp at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex. The State Government is devoted to helping those impacted and meeting the victims’ fundamental needs. As part of continuous efforts to give relief and rehabilitation to those who have been forcibly displaced, financial help and support have been extended. (IANS)
