People all over these years saw eras of romanticism, poeticism, and more but this new era of terror or the coronavirus era has just pushed the atmosphere into the well of sorrow. Every day people wake up with a fear of what new side this virus is going to show and which of my loved ones will leave.
And when every discovery about this virus arrived, people gave some prominent reactions. Yesterday it was declared that British scientists have found 6 distinct types of coronavirus and each can be distinguished by a cluster of symptoms. A widely-used COVID-19 symptom tracking app was used by the British scientists for analyzing its data and while then they found out the same.
It is said that these findings would help the doctors to predict who are those coronavirus patients are at the utmost risk and are likely to be hospitalized and need professional care in future waves of the pandemic.
It was found out by King’s College London that the 6 types of the virus have a direct correlation with severity levels of the virus’ infection and with how likely does a patient needs exterior help for breathing (ventilator treatment or oxygen) if they are admitted to a hospital.
Dr. Claire Steves, co-led the study and said that “If you can predict who these people are at day 5 you have time to give them support and easy interventions such as monitoring blood oxygen and sugar levels, and ensuring they are properly hydrated.”
Apart from the loss of smell, cough, and fever (which are recognized as the key symptoms of COVID 19), the symptom tracking app showed data which threw light on other symptoms like muscle pain, diarrhea, loss of appetite, headaches, fatigue, confusion, and shortness of breath.
Significant variations were seen in the outcomes like some got mild, flu-like symptoms or a rash, and others suffered from acute symptoms or death.
The 6 Types!!
- Flu-like with no fever
Sufferings:- loss of smell, cough, no fever, sore throat, chest pain, headache, and muscle pains
2. Flu-like with fever
Sufferings:- cough, sore throat, headache, loss of smell, fever, loss of appetite, and hoarseness
Sufferings:- headache, loss of smell, loss of appetite, chest pain, sore throat, no cough, and diarrhea
4. Severe level one, fatigue
Sufferings:- cough, fever, hoarseness, headache, loss of smell, chest pain, and fatigue
5. Severe level two, confusion
Sufferings:- headache, loss of smell, fever, hoarseness, fatigue, cough, chest pain, loss of appetite, sore throat, confusion, and muscle pain
6. Severe level three, abdominal and respiratory
Sufferings:- headache, loss of smell, fever, hoarseness, fatigue, cough, chest pain, loss of appetite, sore throat, confusion, muscle pain, diarrhea, shortness of breath, and abdominal pain
Researchers said that patients who have reached the suffering of levels 4, 5, and 6 types are likely in the need to be hospitalized and might need respiratory support.
