Sabina Chopra set up this platform when travel commerce was just flourishing in the Indian market. By identifying the potential of travel commerce in India and people moving towards cheaper or easier travel, Yatra was a perfect platform. As the need for online bookings grew, Yatra was a ready platform that people were able to easily access.

Sabina was the former Head of India Operations of eBookers, which is also an online travel company based in Europe. Along with this, she was also working with Japan Airlines which further adds to her experience in the travel industry and that is why she knew it was the perfect place for her. The second annual Women Leaders in India Awards, 2010 acknowledged her work and she was declared the winner in the Travel & Tourism group.

Ever since its launch, has been unstoppable. In April 2012, it became the second-largest online travel service in India, with a 30 percent share of the ₹370 billion markets for online travel-related transactions. Not just this, it also launched a “holiday-cum-shopping card” with State Bank of India (SBI), India’s largest bank. Further in November 2013, launched e-gift cards in collaboration with Quicksilver. Under Sabina’s leadership, publicly listed on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol YTRA in December 2016.

Sabina Chopra has invested a lot of time and energy in her firm. She manages the sales, fulfillment, and after-sales support for all yatra businesses. Under her leadership, the organization has not only enhanced its customer base but also received several industry recognitions. Her company has raised funds in 4 rounds of funding with a total exceeding $50Mn.
