Things To Keep In Mind When Buying Best Water Purifier In India

What is the most needed survival thing in the world? Undoubtedly, It’s the most generous overflowing creation ever- The water. Water is the most essential requirement without which no creature can survive. Our body is made up of 60% water and our cognitive metabolism alone consumes 75% of it. Hence water is what keeps us running and ticking. But out of all the water that is present on earth, only 3% is consumable yet this percentage is polluted immensely.

India is home to 1.3 billion people. But our water bodies are neither well-treated nor well kept. Water is incomparable to anything in the world and if such a thing itself is not safe, but it’s our right to drink water that is safe and healthy. This is the purpose the water purifier serves.

Water purifier removes any harmful bacteria and gives water that is pure and healthy, but it is the case for every water purifier out there? No, it’s not. Plus once a water purifier is bought, we expect it to run at least for 8- 10 years. Then, if we are planning to keep it for years, then shouldn’t we do our research well. There are certain things that a person needs to keep in mind while buying water purifiers. We have shortened the list for you. Indians have a custom of giving boiled water to their kids when they fall sick. Why do we do that? Because a mother very well knows hot water is free of any bacteria or virus.

But when we are buying the best water purifier we forget to consider the involvement of technology in it. We have a big misconception that the bugger a brand is advertised the better it is and this is the mindset of people is what becomes the advantage of many glasses of water purifiers.

The first step is in understanding the difference between RO, UF, and UV.

Reverse Osmosis – RO

There has not been found any method more approved than this RO method. In this method, water is made to pass through a membrane with a minute pore measuring up to 0.0001 microns with such a force that all the impurities in the water are removed. With such minute pores, the RO membrane can filter every solid particle dissolved in water and give you such transparent pure water. But during the process of filtration, since all solid particles are removed, even the good minerals are also removed with it.

Ultra Violet Rays – UV

UV purifiers have stainless steel fixed chambers within but many times Aluminum UV chambers are used instead. But aluminum UV chambers should not be used, so make sure your UV filters have stainless steel chambers in them. This is a very simplified method where water passes through one hole of the chamber and comes through the other hold. Inside the chamber, UV rays are constantly passed which kills all the bacteria and viruses present in the water. Unlike RO technology, UV filtration does not waste any water as only rays are passed through the water we provide with.

Ultra Filtration – UF

Both the above mentioned methods rely majorly on electricity. It’s essential for UV rays to pass through in UV methods and pumps to apply pressure in the RO system which requires a quality amount of electricity. But this UF method functions without electricity. This is the most simplified method. Groundwater is impure but even trees use that same water but trees have a natural filter mechanism in its root. When water is absorbed in the root, it gets filtered by the minute pores present which free them from any impurity. UF works on the same technology. There are millions of minute pores present like the roots like fiber present inside the chamber. You may wonder if both RO and UF have pores, so what so great about it. But RO pores were 0.0001 microns but UF pores are 0.01 microns. Hence any kind of impurities are all removed and pure water is restored.

Quality of water-

The first and foremost thing to see is where the water comes from. Is it coming from the municipality or BMC or is it coming directly from the government or your source of water is a well, pump, or other means? Only after knowing the source of water, we will be able to decide the content of purity in your water. To know the purity of your water, TDS meters or Total Dissolved solids are used. Water is liquid but it also contains dissolved solids, it could be anything ranging from minerals to heavy metals and this TDS will measure it up for you. TDS are easily accessible and TDS measures both minerals, as well as any other harmful solid materials, give us only a round-off measure. Hence, the BIS (Bureau of Indian standard) has found that a person can drink water to 500 TDS. Only if heavy metals or any other chemicals are dissolved in it does the meter show you more than 500 TDS and that’s when the requirement of water purifier comes.
