Simple put, women and girls are the most potentially capable untapped resource on the face of the earth. And this is why we need women empowerment. Also, this is why the Gender Equality goal of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals is so important.
Women empowerment means marginalizing power in women and girls so that they can play a significant role in the society!
After being suppressed in a patriarchal world for so long, women just need a little help to raise their voices against oppression, female foeticide, rapes, dowry, gender equality and more.
Ending lasting problems like poverty means realizing individual potentials of the people on earth and how much they could be worth, if given a chance. And this begins with women empowerment and gender equality.
After all, as Malala said, extremists have shown what frightens them the most, a girl with a book.
Why is that 64% of the 4th grade girls said they liked science and math when only 18% of all college engineering majors were females? See?

1.What is the Name of Your Venture? Any specific reason for this name?
Feministaa Media Private Ltd. I wanted to build a platform for working women in India. About 30% of women in India own a business and out of them 14% run a business. The numbers speak for themselves. I want women to take inspiration from other women and work for their own financial independence and peace.

2.Who is your target Audience/clients?
Women and men of all age groups and classes. Mostly educated in english medium since the e magazine is in english.
3.Where is your venture based (city, state, country) & What are your geographical target areas?
Our offices are in Delhi (South Ex II) and Mumbai (BKC) and in Bangalore (Cowrks)
4.What problems does your venture resolve? What are your products or services?
Digital PR for woman achievers (Personal Websites, personal social media pages etc)
Platform providing a genuine network of working women
Written and video content marketing solutions
5.Share the idea or story behind the venture. How did it came to an existence? What motivated you to start your own venture?
Its a tough question. Feministaa is not a woman empowerment forum only. It’s a space and vision I want to create in the minds of women. Every time they have the guilt of being ambitious, working that one more hour of extra work, creating this myth about work life balance, and beating themselves up over nothing; I want the women in India to be genuinely independent. And Feministaa Media, through its content.. advertisements, videos, articles, blogs etc will always encourage women to believe so.
Nothing motivated me to start this. I always knew I wanted to have my own business… or my own brand to be specific. I wanted to work and make a difference to the world. The question was whether before or after an MBA, and I chose to have my own venture before an MBA. And this is a business with a vision and to make a difference.
6.Who are your biggest competitors and how do you differentiate yourself from them?
Anyone creating content for women to read in the digital space is my competitor. So, I-Diva, Huffpostwomen are my biggest competitors.
We try to differentiate ourselves by getting as authentic and genuine as we can with our content. The more relatable the content the more the number of readers we will be able to attract.
7.How did you identify your co-founder? Tell us some thing about your co-founder/s
My co founder left the venture last year for some personal reasons. However it was an amazing experience working with an old school friend of mine when we had started off.
8.How did you hired your first team members? What skills Do you want in your employees/team?
My first team member was a freelance graphic designer. And then two nerds from a small town to build the website. The only skill I want in my employees is integrity.
9.What expansion plans are you looking for the next 2 years, next 5 years?
I want to show as many women as possible in a bright light, with their achievements and their profiles. So we are already trying to expand in three cities business wise. But the five year plan is to get foreign investors and scale up.
10.Where do you want to see yourself in next 10 years?

11. What are your goals over the next 1, 3, 6 and 12 months?
I do not make such short term plans, all I aim is for a long term goals and work hard to achieve them.
12.Have you raised any funding? Or have any plans for the funding?
We have raised funding once from a French company. And we will be raising more in July at RISE in Hong Kong
13.What were the problems you faced during the starting days and how did you resolve them?
Having a good team, and correct procedures is the biggest challenge. I’m still a very young firm (only 2.5 years) and the only way to learn is having as many experiences as possible.
14.What was the most challenging part of your journey till now? How did you overcome those challenges?
The most challenging part was the separation with my co founder. the challenge was to handle everything on my own and the only way to overcome that kind of a challenge is to work on yourself, so that your own productivity goes up.
15.Are you married, single or in a relationship?
How does that matter?
16.What are your hobbies? What do you do in your non-work time?
I swim, play the piano and spend time with loved ones.

18.Whom do you consider your idol or biggest motivator?
Idol is daddy and biggest motivator is Gary Vee
19.What do you feel is the major difference between entrepreneurs and those who work for someone else?
One of them are the creative ones, risk takers and the decision makers and the other group are the people who want to learn from the experience of others.
20.If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?
Nothing, I believe everything happens for a reason.
21.How has being an entrepreneur affected your family & Social life?
I have lost people who were negative, competitive and vindictive towards me and gained the trust and love of family and friends who genuinely care about me. I am capable of helping so many friends and family that entrepreneurship has helped me gain respect amongst them; which is the most amazing part.
22.Anything, you would like to say to our readers or upcoming entrepreneurs?
Keep going! Obstacles are a part of life.
23.Tell us something about your education & family background. (Hons); My parents are self made people. They came from Kanpur, to Delhi. We came to delhi with one LML scooter.
24.What is your USP which makes it unique & different from other start-ups in similar domains.
The vision is very clear. We are here to make women believe through stories of other Indian women that it is possible to work, follow your ambitions (whether it’s having the dream career or having a dream family or both) through real stories of other women.
25. What do you think is the biggest threat to the success of small businesses & Start-ups today?
Biggest threat is lack of innovation and technology. If you don’t constantly innovate and use the support of technology in today’s world; you are no where. And someone or the other will outrun you because of that.
26. Do you consider yourself successful and by what means do you measure success?
Success is a state of mind. I am happy that I interact with energetic wonderful people because of my work daily.
