Meesho- The Tale Of A Company Famous For Scams!

It is Meesho's responsibility to keep vigilance about the sellers who are onboarding on their platform because, in the end, the name of the company is the one which flashes on the minds of the customer when they receive any wrong product.

After getting the title of a zombie startup, the E-commerce firm Meesho is again in the headlines because of upsetting their customer. A woman recently purchased a black butterfly bracelet from Meesho but instead received an empty cream box. Aishwarya Khajuria, the woman, approached Instagram to share a video of the event and mentioned in the caption that she was embarrassed to return the package.

The scam cases in Meesho.

The woman can be heard in the shorts explaining that she had previously gotten outdated sarees and other clothing. In the video, she also stated that the box included used “Ponds” cream and asked if the person who stored the box for delivery had used the cream before giving it to her. Interestingly, the woman has previously received the incorrect merchandise. She had previously had a tummy tucker instead of the hair clips she had requested.

And if you think this is the only woman, then read this. Another youtube influencer, The Fashion Bloom, uploaded a shorts on April 2023, where she addressed that she ordered a gown, and on delivery, she received a parcel which contained an old fouling saree with double packaging, sarcastically!

One another from YouTube, namely Rooh Dreamz, in a video from June 2023, mentions that she received a torn saree upon ordering a gown. The irony is that she has applied for a return a dozen times, and every time, the delivery boy refuses to accept the returned order by saying that Meesho has a policy of not returning the reception of the wrong product. And the list is many more. Search ‘Meesho scam’ on YouTube, and you will get hilariously entertaining yet disgusting videos and reels.

Meesho changed its return policy in January to compensate for operational losses. Their return policy contained some stringent measures. Meesho’s return policies are “fair and competitive,” and third-party logistics providers have no effect on the new policy, says a business representative.

However, there have been significant technical difficulties in executing the programme, with some vendors claiming that they were not reimbursed despite receiving altered items from buyers.

In one case, the company apologise that a customer’s return for certain orders has been denied. The reason the company quoted is that they cannot see all sides of the merchandise based on the analysis of the footage. Meesho has informed merchants that rejected shipments would be reviewed by the backend team and has urged them to accept the same if the goods are discovered undamaged. According to one of Meesho’s letters to sellers, after the merchandise is disposed of by the courier partner, it would be termed ‘zero-settlement’. Disgruntled sellers are hence into attacks on the firm via several WhatsApp groups.

Conclusion.

Scams in online purchasing are nothing new. There have been several reports of customers ordering products from online shopping sites and receiving an empty box or strange stuff instead of the item they wanted.

It is not like that all the sellers are working to engage in fraudulent activities. But the adage goes that one fish spoils the whole pond, which fits well in this case. Because of some sellers looting and cheating their customers, many other merchandise owners are causing the burn of customers. In such a case, it is Meesho’s responsibility to keep vigilance about the sellers who are onboarding on their platform because, in the end, the name of the company is the one which flashes on the minds of the customer when they receive any wrong product.

While the situation may appear entertaining, it is important to note that delivery fraud can result in severe financial losses. For example, there have been reports of people ordering an iPhone online but receiving bars of soap or stones instead. While online platforms help with refunds and fix difficulties in many circumstances, there are certain occasions when issues go unaddressed. As a result, it is always prudent to exercise caution when doing online purchasing and to take the appropriate procedures to reduce such dangers.
