L&T Construction bags order for its water & effluent treatment business from UP Govt

The scope of the projects undertaken by the Water & Effluent Treatment Business of L&T Construction includes several key components. These encompass the design and construction of:

  1. Intake structure: The project involves the construction of an intake structure, which is responsible for collecting water from a water source.
  2. Water treatment plant: A water treatment plant with a capacity of 148 million liters per day (MLD) will be constructed. This plant will treat the collected water to make it safe and potable for consumption.
  3. Transmission and distribution pipelines: The project includes the installation of transmission and distribution pipelines covering a distance of 5534 kilometers. These pipelines will facilitate the transportation of treated water from the water treatment plant to the intended areas.
  4. Clear water reservoirs: A total of 13 clear water reservoirs will be built, with an aggregate capacity of 25 million liters (ML). These reservoirs will store the treated water before it is distributed to the target population.
  5. Overhead service reservoirs: The project entails the construction of 504 overhead service reservoirs, with a combined capacity of 115.4 ML. These reservoirs will store water at elevated locations to ensure adequate pressure for distribution.
  6. Pump houses: Thirteen pump houses will be established as part of the project. These pump houses will house the necessary equipment to facilitate the pumping of water through the distribution network.
  7. House service connections: The project aims to provide 3.81 lakh (381,000) house service connections, ensuring that individual households have access to the piped drinking water supply.
  8. Electromechanical and instrumentation works: The project includes the implementation of electromechanical and instrumentation systems to support the functioning and monitoring of the water supply infrastructure.
  9. Operation and maintenance: L&T Construction will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the water supply scheme for a period of 10 years.L&T Construction bags Rs 2,265-crore orders; share up over 1% | Zee Business

The comprehensive scope of the projects highlights the commitment to providing safe and reliable drinking water to the rural population in the Hanumanganj multi-group of villages. The construction and implementation of these components will contribute to the overall success and effectiveness of the water supply scheme in Uttar Pradesh.

L&T Construction is actively involved in the execution of multiple water supply projects in Uttar Pradesh. These projects encompass six surface water-based schemes and automated ground water-based rural water supply projects. The initiatives are being implemented across seven districts in the state.

The focus of these projects is to enhance the accessibility and availability of safe and potable drinking water to rural communities. Surface water-based schemes utilize water sources such as rivers, lakes, or reservoirs, whereas automated ground water-based projects make use of groundwater sources with the support of automation systems.

The execution of these projects demonstrates L&T Construction’s commitment to addressing the water supply challenges faced by rural areas in Uttar Pradesh. By leveraging their expertise in construction and infrastructure development, L&T Construction aims to contribute to the improvement of water infrastructure and the overall well-being of the communities involved.

These initiatives align with the government’s objectives to provide piped drinking water to every household and enhance water security in the state. The execution of multiple projects across different districts underscores L&T Construction’s significant role in supporting the government’s efforts to improve water supply infrastructure and ensure access to clean drinking water for rural populations.

Through the implementation of these schemes, L&T Construction aims to make a positive impact on the quality of life, health, and overall development of the communities in Uttar Pradesh. The projects will not only enhance water availability but also improve the efficiency and effectiveness of water supply systems through automation and modern technologies.

By actively participating in these water supply projects, L&T Construction demonstrates its commitment to sustainable development and its contribution to meeting the vital needs of communities by providing them with reliable access to safe and potable drinking water.L&T Construction has recently secured an order from the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) for the Make-up Water System & Ash Disposal cum Ash Water Recirculation System (AWRS) Package at Talcher. This project is part of NTPC’s expansion plan for the Talcher Thermal Power Plant.

L&T Construction’s responsibilities will include designing, engineering, supplying, constructing, erecting, testing, and commissioning the complete Make-up Water System and Ash Disposal cum AWRS package.

The Make-up Water System plays a crucial role in efficient power plant operations by ensuring a continuous and reliable water supply. This system provides the necessary makeup water to compensate for losses during the power generation process, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted operations.

As part of the project, L&T Construction will design and implement the Ash Disposal cum AWRS package. This package will facilitate the proper disposal of ash generated during power generation and also enable the recirculation of ash water, thereby optimizing water usage and minimizing environmental impact.

The order secured by L&T Construction from NTPC is significant as it aligns with the expansion plans for the Talcher Thermal Power Plant. L&T Construction’s expertise in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects positions them well to undertake such critical infrastructure projects.
