Bootstrapped with an initial investment of 2 lakh, Vishal Singla and Ruchi Soni founded ‘Ruviero’ in Nov 2017 which they officially registered in June,2018.
What inspired the duo to start up?
Ruchi and Vishal have always been inspired and interested by the fashion retail industry. Vishal developed his interest in entrepreneurship while doing his internship at National University of Singapore where he got the chance to work and meet with different startup founders. Ruchi also had a keen interest in the fashion industry and always wanted to start a venture of her own.
Duo whenever went to the market to buy some good dresses and clothes, they never got things what they desired for. And if somehow they found any dress having a classy design, it was very costly and out of their budget. And sometimes the fabric was not of their choice.
One fine day, after coming back from shopping, they were pondering something and a thought strikes through their mind that such kind of problems regarding the dresses and apparels could be faced by other people also. Hence they thought to provide a solution to this problem and they started their own venture ‘Ruviero Apparels Private Limited’ where well-designed dresses are sold especially for women
Speaking about picking the name Ruviero, Ruchi says,
“We wanted to start the brand „RuVi‟ by including the first letters of our names (Ruchi and Vishal). However, this name was not available, so we tried to play with words to think of a name that would still use most of the letters of our names. After several iterations we came up with the name Ruviero representing the Era of brand by RuVi (Ruchi-Vishal)”
Designing a Startup
Intitially, Founders procured fabric from Delhi and outsourced their manufacturing to a local manufacturer there for the designs that are made by designers which they hired from NIFT and Amity. But unfortunately the costing charged by the vendor and lead time taken by them was not acceptable to them, so they decided to start the manufacturing of their own and hired a team of Tailors and Cutting master with a initial setup of just 5 machines, in October 2018.
To their surprise, first month of after launching collection that brought in around 40 orders of gowns and dresses with a wonderful feedback from buyers.
Now it was a time to look beyond this, duo started showcasing their collection in exhibitions; they exhibited their collection in the Shimmer fashion and lifestyle exhibition at Ansal Plaza and got an amazing response not just in terms of sale but also in making people aware of their brand.
This fashion Industry has been heavily impacted by e-commerce and mobile apps. These Online platforms are providing excellent opportunities for new entrants like us to establish their brands and solve problems in some or the other way. The production costs of most clothing items are only a fraction of what customer pay for them in the store then the Question comes who gets all the money spend by them?
“The vast majority of the value is captured by the markup that goes to the middleman, So we are working on providing quality garments at an affordable rate by eliminating middle man” Vishal says.
Today, Ruviero has a full fledge manufacturing setup near Kapashera border, Delhi.
Working on B2B model
Ruviero Apparels draws its strength from its in house manufacturing facility at Delhi. Having team of experienced tailors and designers, facility has dedicated machines and equipments used for garment manufacturing. It also has a competent team of QC professionals monitoring each stage of garment production. They started to associate with existing or new brands to produce garments for their brands. Currently they are manufacturing garments for Baby hug (inhouse brand of First cry), Khadi India, Fablestreet and Bownbee, and generates a revenue of around 4-5 lacs per month, company claims.
In the next phase of growth, Ruviero, plans to seek support from investors who share its vision and will work as partner.
“With a firm belief and dedication, we are committed to bring new and innovative designs and to establish our brand at national and international markets in the coming years.” Vishal says.
