The three officials in question, Sunder Bora (the then Superintendent of Rohini jail), Mahender Prasad Sundriyal (the then Deputy Superintendent of Rohini jail), and Dharam Singh Meena (the then Assistant Superintendent of Rohini jail) faced charges for their involvement in aiding Chandrashekhar’s criminal activities.

With the assistance of the jail officials, he procured an Airtel SIM card to access internet services inside the prison premises. Chandrashekhar communicated with individuals such as Aditi Singh through apps like Telegram and WhatsApp to carry out his criminal activities. He even enjoyed the luxury of a separate independent barrack, circumventing overcrowding concerns even during the height of the pandemic.
It appears that Chandrashekhar’s reach extended beyond the prison walls as well. He was able to move outside the court without authorization, with discrepancies in the official register entries regarding the timing of his departures. Such liberties allowed him to maintain communication with his lawyer and potentially others, exploiting the lax supervision.
The modus operandi of Chandrashekhar’s operation involved the collection of funds by Assistant Superintendent Dharam Singh Meena, who received instructions from Chandrashekhar’s close aide, Deepak Ramnani. Dharam Singh Meena, in turn, distributed the cash among jail officials as per Chandrashekhar’s directives. The corrupt officials allegedly utilized the funds for various purposes, including household expenses, investments, and property purchases.
