Prime Minister Narendra Modi has proposed a Startup Bridge between the two countries to boost current ties as India and Italy mark 75 years of bilateral relations. After meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who will be in India for two days commencing on March 2 to discuss bilateral ties as part of the G20 Foreign Ministers conference in New Delhi, the Prime Minister made the announcement.
She made a deliberate decision to make India her first foreign destination. Italy’s first high-level bilateral visit in the previous five years is her trip to India. Modi appreciated Italian efforts in the Indo-Pacific since both nations wanted to see the region become open, accessible, and controlled by international law.
India has created many investment opportunities with its well-known “Made in India” and “Self Reliant India” programmes. As a result, PM Modi urged Italy to make an investment in India and work with it to advance both nations’ economic development.
Italy is likewise eager to strengthen its business ties with India. India thinks the current negotiations between the countries will further advance India’s interest on the international stage as it works tirelessly to establish itself as the world’s manufacturing hub.
The two countries had a wide-ranging conversation about a variety of issues, including cyber security, border protection, the fight against terrorism and separatist movements, and other new challenges posed by advances in technology.

Rome comes in at number 143, followed by Turin at number 273. The best location for investments in companies in the fields of food tech, health, energy, and the environment is thought to be Italy.
India and Italy will emphasise more cooperation in renewable energy, green hydrogen, IT, semiconductors, space, and telecom via the new Startup Bridge. The two nations will also prioritise fostering their commercial connections.

From 2012 and 2015, the relationship between India and Italy was strained due to India’s arrest of two Italian marines for the death of Kerala fishermen close to the Indian coast.
