Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray suggested that Bhoomi Pujan of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya can be conducted through video conferencing in light of the pandemic COVID-19 widespread. However, expressing the anger on Ridiculing Uddhav Thackeray’s advice, the saints said that the Ram Mandir‘s ceremony is not some government meeting that can be held with the video conferencing.
In an interview published in the Shiv Sena’s spokesman ‘Saamna,’ Uddhav Thackeray said, “An e-Bhoomi Pujan can be organized through video-conference due to COVID-19 pandemic. This is an occasion of joy, and lakhs of people would be interested in watching the ceremony live. The normal Bhoomi Pujan can cause the pandemic to spread, so can we allow the spread of the pandemic COVID-19?”
“This is not an ordinary temple, and lakhs of people would be running to join the ceremony. Will you stop them? Also, many won’t be able to attend this historic event even I can go Ayodhya for the ceremony, but what about those lakhs of Ram Bhakts who won’t be able to join. Today, we are fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic, and religious gatherings are prohibited due to stop the spread of the novel virus. Therefore you can do e-Bhoomi Pujan through video-conference,” he suggested.
On the senseless advice given by Uddhav Thackeray, Ram Mandir Trust Secretary Champath Rai said that this is not a government meeting that can be done through video conferencing. We can’t have the E-Bhoomi Pujan as the Bhoomi Pujan of the mandir has religious sentiments attached to it, and it can be only be done in the presence of people, he explained.
