Due to the Covid-19 slump followed by social distancing and a nationwide lockdown, many companies and businesses are experiencing major impacts on their work. According to Government guidelines, Restaurants have to be closed until coronavirus gets over. In this situation, many restaurants, businesses, and companies like Zomato and Swiggy are suffering huge losses.

Keeping this situation in mind the government has allowed them to take orders online only and give home delivery service. But due to pandemic fear, people don’t prefer to place an order online. They tend to make food at home as much as it’s feasible for them and also keeps them safe from the harms of the virus.


To tackle this situation Companies like Zomato and Swiggy have decided to deliver food by taking the help of drones. In 2019, Zomato tested its drone delivery technology in India covering a distance of five kilometers in just 10 minutes. Zamora had announced a successful test delivery using drones in July 2019.
These platforms have received approval from the Director-General of Civil Aviation to begin testing beyond visual line of sight drones among those who got permission were also reliance bag drones startup Asteria aerospace and budget airlines spice chat. The process test for which are expected to begin in July will require them to complete a minimum hundred hours of flight time in a given air space allotted by the Airport Authority of India by September 30. Reports of the test flight will have to be submitted to the DGCA.

Some companies have modified their business into making sanitizer and masks because of rapid demand in the market. For example- A lot of companies like RSH Global, Nivea, Emami, Cipla Health, Dabur have made their maiden entries into the hand sanitizer market to ride the demand and to help people stay safe.

 In this way, Companies are tackling Covid-19 and lockdown. Mostly small companies like local retailers and firms started selling some items online including children’s clothes after improving social distancing measures at its warehouses.

Now the big question is how long will the disruption last and when can people get back to their lives and businesses safely get back to work. Even if the world turns the corner on containing the virus in the next week or two, economic effects will roll through most of retail, from luxury to discount and everywhere in between.
