Good News: World’s First Covid-19 Vaccine will be Registered by Russia on 12 August!

Amid a sudden surge in COVID-19 cases and mortality rates across the world, Russian viral caseload is an estimated 8,77,135 people. It has the world’s fourth-largest caseload, after the US, Brazil, and India – the only four countries so far to record more than a million coronavirus cases. In the COVID-19 vaccine race, Russia is all set to become the first country in the world to register a fully effective coronavirus vaccine by August 12.

According to reports, on Friday, Oleg Gridnev, Deputy Health Minister announced that the vaccine has been developed jointly by the Russian defence Ministry and Gamaleya research institute.

According to Sputnik news, at the opening of a cancer centre building in Ufa, Gridnev told reporters that at present, the final stage is underway. The trial is extremely important. We must understand that the vaccine should be safe. Medical professionals and the elderly will be the first to be vaccinated.

The minister said that the effectiveness of the vaccine will be judged after the population’s immunity is strengthened. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that in a previous report, the final screening of candidates testing the COVID-19 vaccine, which was developed by Russia’s Gamaleya National Research Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology at Gamaleya, showed immunity to all volunteers.

A few days ago, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko proclaimed that the vaccine for coronavirus treatment had completed the final phase of clinical trials and showed extensive effectiveness. He also said that the government will first vaccinate teachers and doctors in August and then launch a nationwide vaccination campaign in October.

The clinical trial of the vaccine started on June 18 and included 38 volunteers. All participants formed an immunity. The first group was released on July 15 and the second group was discharged on July 20.

Besides this, the volunteers who engaged in the second coronavirus vaccine test developed by Vektor State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology are in good health and no side effects of the vaccine are being observed. Federal Service for Surveillance on consumer rights protection and human welfare told the Russian news agency TASS.

All vaccinated candidates are in good health. After being vaccinated with the EpiVacCorona vaccine against the COVID-19 vaccine, no complications were found.

Authorities in Russia say they are about to approve a COVID-19 vaccine, with mass vaccinations planned as early as October 2020, using shots that are yet to complete clinical trials. But scientists worldwide are sounding the alarm that the headlong rush could backfire and point to ethical issues that undermine confidence in the Russian studies.

Therefore, Russia will become the first country in the world to register a fully effective coronavirus vaccine on August 12. Mikhail Murashko who is a Russian health minister declared that European countries are expected to start mass production of the coronavirus vaccine in October 2020. He also promised that all costs related to the vaccine will be covered in the budget of the state.

At the same time, after Moscow announced plans to begin the rapid production of a COVID-19 vaccine, the World Health Organization (WHO) on Tuesday urged Russia to follow established guidelines for the production of efficient and safe vaccines.

The WHO emphasizes that all candidate vaccines must undergo the full testing process before being launched. Christian Lindmeier, WHO spokesperson told reporters at the United Nations in Geneva: There are established practices and there are guidelines out.

Now, several vaccines are in the final stage of clinical trials worldwide and we all hope to have many effective vaccines that can help prevent people from coronavirus infection.

He said: For this purpose, any vaccine (or drug) should undergo all kinds of trials and tests before being permitted for rollout.

However, Russia has not yet released any scientific data from its first clinical trial. According to the associated press report, the World Health Organization’s list of candidate vaccines in human trials still includes Gamaleya products, as in the Phase 1 trial.

Russia has the fourth-highest number of coronavirus cases in the world, after the United States, Brazil, and India. The Russian coronavirus response center said on Friday that in the past 24 hours, Russia has recorded 5,244 COVID-19 cases, bringing the cumulative total to 877,137. As a result, the total number of cases reached 877,137, with an increase of 0.6% per day.
