All clients who have issues pertaining to Intellectual Property law, Media Law, Cyber Law, Technology law. Our audience consists of inventors, scientists, educational institutes, SME’s, domestic companies, fortune 500 companies across various industries’ viz. media companies, music industry, technology based companies, IT companies, automobiles, pharma companies, FMCG’s, real estate companies, telecommunication companies, startups.

4.What problems does your venture solve? What are your products or services.

Our law firm solves issues pertaining to Intellectual Property law, Media Law, Cyber Law, Technology law as well as commercial laws. We assist in prosecution of Intellectual property (Trademarks, Patents, Designs, Copyrights, Geographical Indications), litigation in courts, in criminal raids against counterfeiters, in licensing of IP, monetising of IP, audit of IP as well as in advisory and transnational work.

5.Share the idea or story behind the venture. How did it come to an existence?

I, being Managing Partner of the law firm have experience of over 17 years. I am one of few practicing advocates who have a doctorate in IP law. Cases argued my me are reported in law journals. I am a prolific speaker in various forums and write articles for various national and international journals. My clients rallied behind me and gave me support to venture out on my own after working with the best law firms in Intellectual Property field.

6.How did you identify your co-founder? Tell us some thing about your co-founder/s

M/s Vohra & Vohra is a sole proprietary firm. We however have a Senior Partner Mr. Sridharan Rajan Ramkumar who looks after Practice Vertical pertaining to corporate law, commercial law, arbitrations especially those pertaining to oil and gas, competition law, environment law, banking law to name a few.

7. How did you hired your first team members

Our lawyers are from best law colleges with extensive experience and domain knowledge. We also have highly trained paralegals to give support to us. Our law firm relies heavily on technology to ensure that data is preserved property and no deadline is missed.

8.What expansion plans are you looking for the next 2 years, next 5 years?

We have plans to open offices in Mumbai, Chennai & Kolkata in next 2 years and offices in Bangalore, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad & Pune in next five years

9.Where do you want to see yourself in next 10 years?

We see ourselves as one the best Corporate and Intellectual Property law firm in next 10 years.

10.Have you raised any funding? Or have any plans for the funding?

I pooled in resources from my savings to start my law firm. There is no concept as funding in law firms. One does good work and clients come based on reputation and goodwill.

11.What were the problems you faced during the starting days and how did you resolve them?

The biggest challenge was getting talented lawyers who would stick it out. I resolved it by giving an atmosphere where they felt sense of ownership and total freedom to deliver quality work.

12. What have been your biggest challenges and learning so far?

In legal profession every day is a challenge and a day of learning. The biggest challenge however, is to ensure a good team works and delivers.

13.Are you married, single or in a relationship?

I am very happily married.

14.What are your hobbies? What do you do in your non-work time?

I love to teach and impart my domain industry knowledge to students in law schools. I am a visiting faculty in law colleges. Reading and going for long walks are also things I enjoy. I also enjoy travelling and exploring new places.
15.Whats your favorite food & holiday destination?

My favourite food anything prepared by my mother. Holiday destination would be Goa.

16.Whom do you consider your idol or biggest motivator?

My idol is my father. He inculcated love for studies and supported me to complete my doctorate while working. He always told my sister and me that marriage is not be all and end all of life and that carrier and financial freedom always come first. My biggest motivator is my husband who encouraged me to start out on my own and keeps me going. For him no dream of mine is unachievable and is happiest when I do good work and get recognition.

17.What do you feel is the major difference between entrepreneurs and those who work for someone else?

Entrepreneurs are people who have higher risk taking ability, excellent leadership qualities and are self-motivated. They do not believe in doing jobs but creating jobs.

18.If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?

I would have started my law firm earlier. Starting out is the best decision I have taken.

19.How has being an entrepreneur affected your family & Social life?

We work longer hours as the buck stops at us. There is very little time to pursue hobbies or have time for family or friends.

Chase your dreams and never give up.

21.Tell us something about your education & family background.

I am an army child having studied all over India. After doing my English (Hons), I did my law from Campus Law Centre (Delhi University) and went on to do my LLB and PHD. I have also done my MBA from Symbiosis Pune, Leadership course from IIM Lucknow, certificate in cyber law from ILI Delhi, certificates from WIPO Switzerland, Diploma in IPR from National Law School Bangalore and Diploma in Media law from NALSAR Hyderabad. I have an academic bent of mind and believe you should be a student all your life and keep studying and teaching.

22.What is your USP which makes it unique & different from other start-ups in similar domains.

My domain knowledge, academic knowledge and unique profile of being both prosecutor and litigator make me stand out in my field.

23. What do you think is the biggest threat to the success of small businesses & Start-ups today?

Extreme Competition, nepotism. The work does not always go to best lawyer.

24. Do you consider yourself successful and by what means do you measure success?

Yes. I do quality work and deliver to clients. However, I would like to do more work. Success to me is when your peers, juniors and clients have highest regard for you. It is not measured in the car your drive or your office address.
