IndiGo And SpiceJet Airlines Carried Food, Medicine, Medical Equipment In The Face Of Crisis

IndiGo airlines said on Tuesday that it is in the process of operating more than 30 relief flights as part of the Centre’s efforts to combat Covid-19, while SpiceJet on Tuesday flew its plane containing relief items. In the fight against the Corona epidemic in the country, the Indigo airline has been allowed by the government to carry food, medicine and medical equipment in its aircraft. The airline said that these flights are being operated by the company at its own cost.

SpiceJet took a flight with relief items in the passenger cabin

Budget airline SpiceJet operated the country’s first flight carrying relief items in its passenger cabin on Tuesday. That is, for the first time in the country, SpiceJet has carried goods at the seating area of ​​passengers. SpiceJet flight has transported important supplies from Delhi to Chennai by keeping them in the passenger cabin and belly space. The airline has hired its Boeing-737 NG aircraft after the permission of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

According to SpiceJet, 11 tonnes of essential supplies have been transported from Delhi to Chennai in the passenger cabin and belly space. The airline said that the aircraft has made five rounds on Tuesday to ensure delivery of critical supplies in the shortest time possible.

200 domestic and international flights since lockdown

SpiceJet chairman and managing director Ajay Singh said in a statement, “Since the lockdown, we have loaded more than 1,400 tonnes of cargo through 200 domestic and international flights. Today, for the first time in the country, we supplied goods to a passenger aircraft in which critical supplies were safely stored in the passenger cabin and belly space. “

According to the statement, special covers made of fire resistant material covered the seat and brought the goods safely. Significantly, the 21-day lockdown has been implemented in the country from 25 March. This lockdown is implemented to prevent the corona virus from spreading. During this period, all industrial and commercial activities, except essential goods and essential services, have come to a standstill. Under this backdrop, SpiceJet and IndiGo are flying planes for ensuring that supply of essential commodities are not compromised in any part of the world.

Cases in India rise to 5194; death toll rises to 149

In the last 24 hours, 773 cases of corona have been reported and 10 people have died in the country. On Wednesday, the Corona virus figure increased to 5194 nationwide. At the same time, 149 people have lost their lives and 401 people have fully recovered from the dangerous Covid-19 epidemic or they have been discharged from the hospital. According to the updated data of the Health Ministry till 8 am Tuesday, out of a total of 5194 cases of corona virus in the country, 4643 cases are active.
