Kejriwal Government facing backlash over COVID-19 Crisis

The feud between Indian political parties has always been in the limelight. The COVID-19 pandemic situation in India has made this even more evident since no governmental body is ready to accept its responsibilities. Taking firm responsibility in these tough times has become crucial.

The “blame game” has taken an ugly turn of events, which is eventually making the citizens of India suffer. As no one is coming up for the welfare of the citizens, they have to take up the responsibilities of arranging the medical needs. Whether it be PM Modi’s COVID relief package or managing the vaccination drive, the government has left no stone unturned in disappointing its citizens.

BJP lashes Kejriwal’s unpreparedness during COVID-19 crisis

How Did India's COVID-19 Crisis Become a Catastrophe? | Time

On Monday, BJP slammed Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal over his ‘unpreparedness’ and ‘unresponsiveness towards handling the COVID-19 situation in Delhi. They have also accused Kejriwal of spending crores of public funds and taxes on publicity and ads and ‘misleading’ people while washing their hands from the responsibilities in catering to the crisis in the national capital. Further, they accused Kejriwal of leaving everything on the shoulders of the central government.

Speaking at a press conference, BJP spokesman Sambit Patra quoted the RTI response as saying that the Kejriwal government had spent about 805 crore rupees on advertisements since 2015 but had not built a single new hospital. He also accused the CM of appearing daily on TV, “misleading” people and misusing his powers. “He is misusing his powers,” said Patra, attacking the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). This “blame game” is not anything new in our country.

Patra also mentioned that how Kejriwal, on April 26th, made a false promise of ordering 1.34 crore vaccine dosages which would cost Rs.1,400 crores. But now, when the vaccination drive has started for everyone the age above 18, he is saying that he has nothing. “Now he is saying that he has ordered no vaccines. Merely 8 percent of people over the age of 45 have been fully vaccinated in Delhi, and just 48 percent of people over the age of 60 have received vaccines. With the introduction of the liberalized policy of vaccine, there is a burden to vaccinate so many people at once. How will he cope with this situation?” he further added.

Commenting on the interview with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal in rejecting proposals for the facility to be blamed for the oxygen crisis, he said provinces were primarily responsible for making life-saving electricity, BJP spokesman Kejriwal said. “Despite receiving the amount from the central government to set up the oxygen plants in Delhi, Kejriwal further managed to fool the people by saying how he is running out of spaces to set the oxygen plants.”

Patra also commented on the rape incident that happened at Delhi’s Tikri border where the farmer’s protest is going on.
