India Bans Xiaomi’s Web Browser, Accused of Data Theft in 2020

The Indian government has banned several Chinese apps from the Indian server, now the Indian government is determined to ban Chinese mobile apps such as Xiaomi and Baidu. It is reported that the government has taken action against the Chinese companies operating in India and banned the browser action Mi Browser Pro – video download, free fast and secure made by Xiaomi. This is another step of the government to hit Chinese companies in recent times taken by the Indian authorities.

Market analysts say action against the browsers may affect the performance of the devices, but company officials said the move would not affect the device’s performance. Users can easily download any browser.

A Xiaomi spokesperson said the company would talk to the ministry officials to resolve the matter. It also stated that it follows local data protection and other rules and guidelines. We will take appropriate steps as required. However, Baidu refused to comment on this.

Please tell that most MI browsers are preloaded in Xiaomi smartphones. Banning this will potentially prevent Chinese firms from installing devices that are sold in India in the coming times. A Xiaomi spokesperson said the company would take the right decision after understanding this. As per the Counter Point report, Xiaomi is the number one brand in India in smartphones and has more than 90 million customers.

Government is preparing for another Digital Strike

The Indian government had banned 59 apps simultaneously while conducting a digital strike on China. In another order after that, 47 apps were banned last month and now preparations are on for another digital strike for the third consecutive month. It is reported that the government will ban 15 other Chinese apps.

The series of Chinese boycott has taken place due to the land dispute between China and India in the Galvan valley region of Ladakh. India has also proposed its scheme of Aatmanirbar Bharat wherein the Indian enterprises are making a statement with the tag of ‘Vocal for Local’. The Indian conglomerates are planning of investing within the country to assist the economic revival of India in a Post-COVID world.
